  REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT OFFICE Ed Education and Employment Internship -  Fall 2015  05/2015  The Refugee Resettlement Office of Catholic Charities Community Services provides assistance to those with refugee, asylee, and certified victim of trafficking statuses from diverse backgrounds, offering case management, employment-based, and educational services that help clients find employment and feel secure in their new community. To further help us with this goal, we are looking to bring on interns who are interested in engaging in our office functions while interacting one-on-one with clients to help them work towards financial self-sufficiency. We also provide social services to unaccompanied minors as a part of the Safe Passages Family Reunification Program, including home-study and post-release services for children and youth being released from shelters to their sponsors. Potential Responsibilities:  Tutoring in ESOL, computer basics, and employment readiness  Assisting in school enrollments and job applications  Mock interviews and interview preparation  Resume development  Workshop development and facilitation  Researching and compiling databases on education, housing, mental health, and other resources available in NYC  Accompaniment of clients to appointments and local community services  Administrative assistance Skill Requirements:  Exceptional communication and organizational skills  Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects/deadlines  Flexibility, patience, compassion, and interest in working with an immigrant and/or refugee population  Additional language skills (particularly French, Arabic, and Spanish) are beneficial but not  required Location: 80 Maiden Lane, 13 t  Floor New York, NY 10038 Schedule/ Commitment: Intern hours must take place within office hours, Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm. Hours/shifts can be flexible according to intern’s schedule and availability.  Duration: Monday, August 31, 2015 through Friday, December 11, 2015 Hours: Required commitment of 15+ hours per week Benefits: Interns are able to work with a diverse, multicultural staff and client population, learn more about the challenges that refugees/asylees face, provide a service to the office that is integral in the resettlement process, and engage in the detailed intricacies of non-profit programming and management.
