A Note From The President, Robert A Note From The President, Robert A Note From The President, Robert A Note From The President, Robert BeckBeckBeckBeck There’s an old song that begins “Not a soul down on the common, that’s a pretty certain sign, that those wedding bells are breaking up that old gang of mine”. Well in our case it’s not wedding bells but a tiny virus that can slip through a one micron filter and is spread by people when they cough, sneeze, and touch surfaces where it has fallen onto.

At the request of President Trump, Governor Wolf, and other authorities, the center has closed down all non-essential classes and activities. I hope all of my friends are all staying well during this troubled time, and that soon we can put all of this behind us and resume our normal rou-tines. Until then it is vitally important to follow all state and national health guidelines to avoid spreading the virus. God bless us all with health and stability in our lives.

This card was sent to our Meals on Wheels drivers by the Area Agency on Aging to thank them for their service and their names were published in the Bucks County Herald. Included here is a poem by Rosemary Blase for those brave volunteers. VolunteersVolunteersVolunteersVolunteers Volunteers are people who have given their time, To help improve the quality of both their lives and mine, Who always do the job with a smile, though things might be rough, Who finish what has to be done when the going gets tough, Who make commitments and see them through, and never wonder why they would, Who give their time unselfishly to make our lives so good. So hats off to our volunteers and “Thank You” for what you’ve done, I’m sure I speak for all when I say “Great Job, Every-one!”

A Mother's Day poem, by Rosemary BlaseA Mother's Day poem, by Rosemary BlaseA Mother's Day poem, by Rosemary BlaseA Mother's Day poem, by Rosemary Blase

I Wish that I could talk to you and tell you how I feel I wish I could spend a day with you and maybe share a meal, And talk about the happy times when I was growing up, About the little kittens we had and that precious little pup,

I wish I could taste your homemade fudge, and bring you a bouquet of flowers, and laugh as we covered with rain during April Showers,

I wish that I could hug you and tell you "I love you" once more, I wish I could turn around and see you at the door,

That beautiful old, familiar face that I thought would always be there, Or hear your sweet voice on the phone when we had something to share,

But you will always be here for you're only a thought away, So I'll dedicate this poem to you, Happy Mother's Day, today

When You’re Old With Dentures

Dad you’ve always cared for me, When I bumped my head or scratched my knee, You’ve been amazing, you’ve been the best, So I’ve got something to suggest. One day I’ll take care of you, When you’re old with dentures too. And if you need a cane to walk, Then I’ll walk slow so we can talk. You can relax and rest your head, I’ll bring you breakfast in your bed.

And if your hip has pains and aches, I’ll bring you tea and bake you cakes.

I won’t care how old you , To me you’ll always be a star, I’ll love you more Dad, anyway,

I run the thrift store at the Upper Bucks Senior Activity Center. I

miss all the wonderful visitors and members who spend time in my little store finding fun items and special gifts. I’m very lonely be-cause COVID-19 has kept you from

visiting with me. I can’t wait until the lights are back on and the doors are open so you can come visit with me at our ac-tivity center again. Stay safe and hope to see you soon, your shop-

keeper, Barbara

Hi Everyone; Hope everyone is getting ready for nice weath-er and spring flowers and hope this message finds all of you in good spirits and mainly in good health! The COVID-19 Virus has put all of us in different and confusing situations that we have never experienced before. . Unfortunately it put a stop to being at our Senior Center and all our fundraising events and also our Calendar of Events come to a stop. Hopefully in the very near future things will start opening back up and we can all continue to be with our mem-bers and good friends, which I miss very much! We are planning to organize more fund raising events and are very grateful for the volunteers that can help with different functions. Hoping to have ‘THE REAL DIAMOND Show and Dance’ resched-uled as soon as possible. Also we will be work-ing on The Flea Market; Hoagie Sale; Apple Dumpling and Soup Sale; and maybe a ‘50’s Dance Party too! We will also need volunteers to help at these functions. There will be a sign up sheet if you are able to help. If anyone has any other ideas please contact Sue or myself. During this time of staying at home and away from everyone, I have been very busy sewing face masks, for my family and friends. It’s been keeping me very busy for the past 3 weeks. My 2 granddaughters are nurses and they asked me to make face masks for them and now eve-ryone else . It’s very therapeutic , and hopefully helping to keep the virus from spreading more and making more people sick. Hope to see all of you back at our Senior Cen-ter very soon, so we can all get back to having Fun, Laughing and Dancing again! I Miss All of You, Lorraine Fox

We would like about a dozen more singers in our chorus. Come out and give it a try.

Being Part Of Our Community 1. We are still a collection site for the Food Pantry. At this time, pasta and sauces are needed. Please buy a sec-ond something on sale and drop it off here. They also need canned and packaged goods that won’t spoil. 2. Eyeglasses are still being collected and given to the Lion’s Club. 3. Tabs from pop top cans (soda, tuna, cat food, etc.) are being collected for the Ronald McDonald House, which shelters families of children who are seriously ill or injured. We give them to the Women’s Club who takes them to a McDonald’s repository. 4. Both our choral group “The Sunshine Singers” and our band “The Impossibles” go to different nursing homes and assisted living facilities to entertain those residents every month. 5. Please bring in any post-marked stamps to the front desk. We collect cancelled stamps, and they are given to the Blind Association. 6. The V.A. Clinic in Allentown has a little coffee room available to patients while they wait for their appointments. They need sugar, tea bags, artificial sweeteners and stirrers. 7. We are collecting pennies for Cancer Research. Please bring your pennies and loose change in to help. 8. We are sending gift boxes to our Troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. We need more donations to fill our boxes. 9. We help support Quakertown’s Fourth Of July Fireworks Display with our Bingo-In-The-Park and selling Pulled Pork Sandwiches at these 2 fundraising booths. 10. Our Volunteers distribute our newsletter throughout the Upper Bucks Area. Find Out What’s Going On In Your Community . . . And Then Get Involved !
