From the Founder's Desk …….

I am delighted to release prospectus for 10th International Commerce Olympiad 2018. The zeal of students, their overwhelming rate of success in exams and the increasing growth graph of Commerce Olympiad is the source of our consistent efforts in this direction. Each year Commerce Olympiad breaks its own records and poses us a challenge to take a giant leap and to venture into new areas. I take it as an opportunity to excel more and I am really blessed to have a wonderful team associated with CTF. At present Commerce Olympiad is being conducted I 106 cities, 6 countries and there are 170000 students from 850 different schools.

In this competitive world, Commerce Olympiad helps the students to get widen their vision. It gives them conviction, confidence and clarity of concepts. It sharpens their skills and helps them to identify the areas they need to improve. It also helps them to score better in their board exams and gives them a training for appearing in other competitive exams.

At last I would like to extend my thanks to all the Principals, Commerce teachers and school management whose support and encouragement play an important role in the growth of the Olympiad. I take this opportunity to thank the core group members for their consistent hard work to make Olympiad a success.

l Felicitation Functions: It has been the unique tradition of CTF based on the concept of its

own kind to honor the students along with the teachers for their outstanding performance in

CBSE Examination as well as CTF Olympiad. On 13th May, 2017 the function was held at

Chinmaya Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. CTF believes in recognizing and

acknowledging the sincere and dedicated efforts of the teachers and students, as felicitation

works like a trigger to touch new heights in their future endeavors.

International Commerce Olympiad: CTF pioneered the concept commerce Olympiad at l

national level and thereby taking first step to go international. So it has proved to be the

India’s First commerce Olympiad. The test gives the students an exposure to face the

competitive world, and to enable them to test their conceptual clarity about the commerce

subjects.

Sample Papers: Developing and making available Sample papers on subjects - l

Accountancy, Business Studies and Economics to the students through our website for the

students to check their level of preparation. The papers have been developed by a team

dedicated and highly experienced commerce teachers.

Workshops: Organizing Professional Enrichment Programmes for accelerating professional l

growth of commerce teaching fraternity. It is an imitative to let the teachers share their

teaching experiences and methodologies with fellow fraternity members. This is done with a

view to update the teachers with latest changes in the curriculum.

Sharing of PPT Content: This is another initiative started by CTF during 2018 to develop l

and share PPT content with the teachers.

Excursion Trips: Organizing excursions trips to enhance social ties among the teachers and l

`rejuvenate their energies.

Members Meet: Organizing open House meet to discuss the CTF initiatives and the work l

done. It also makes plan for the future growth and development of the organization through

new activities. It’s another purpose is to bring transparency in the functioning of the

organization.

Interactive Video Sessions: Keeping with the latest trends of using videos and social l

media tools by the students in learning the concepts. CTF has started developing interactive

videos on difficult concepts. This is aimed for the board students to score more.

CTF’s Endeavours

Change is the order of the day. Keeping in mind the latest changes in the curriculum, various professional enrichment programmes on ‘Recent Changes in Curriculam of Accountancy and Business Studies’ were organised by CTF during the year..

l On 25th August, 2018 a “Professional Enrichment Programme” i.e “Workshop on Changes in curriculum of Accountancy and Business Studies” was organised at B D Public School, Patna (Bihar). It was the first time that CTF ventured into new region thereby adding a new chapter to CTF endeavours. It was attended by teachers along with the students.

l On 18th August, 2018 a “Professional Enrichment Programme” i.e “Workshop on Changes in curriculum of Accountancy and Business Studies” was organised at St. Edmunds’ School, Jawahar Nagar, Jaipur. CTF took this opportunity to honour the senior and visionary Commerce teachers of Jaipur region, who have contributed in the field of Commerce education for last 25 years. This workshop was attended by more than 100 teachers of the state of Rajasthan.

l On 28th July, 2018 an interactive workshop organised for Business Studies on the topic “How to make teaching of Business Studies a Fun” and “How to deal with case studies of Business Studies” at Air Force Bal Bharati School, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. This was an another workshop with In house Resource persons. Ms. Meenu Chandok, Ms. Asma Syed and CA Mr. Ram Ahuja who made this workshop an exclusive initiative of CTF.

l On 7th July, 2018 at Rukmani Devi Public School, Pitampura, New Delhi. The workshop was taken by Dr. G.S. Grewal and Mr. R. K.Khosla. It was conducted in association with Sultan Chand & Sons.260 teachers from North Delhi attended the workshop. The participation of such a huge number of teachers speaks of its success.

l On 16th December, 2017 CTF conducted workshop at DPS, Nacharam, Hyderabad. It was CTF’s another step to organise the workshop for students also. The workshop was appreciated a lot and the interactive sessions with teachers and students added charm to the workshop. The resource persons of the workshop were Mr. Gaurav Palia and Ms. Rajini Rao. l On 9th September 2017 CTF had the opportunity to conduct another workshop in Chennai at Modern Senior Secondary School. It was our first venture in South India. The workshop was attended by 125 enthusiastic teachers from all over Chennai. The workshop received rave comments from the teachers. The resource persons were Mr. Gaurav Palia and Kavita Sachdeva.

l 12th August, 2017: In continuation with the same topic i.e. of ‘Recent Changes in Curriculam of Business Studies and Accountancy’ another workshop was organised on 12 August, 2017 at S.V. Public School, Jaipur. The workshop was acclaimed and was also considered as one of the most successful and professionally relevant workshop. CTF’s In- house resource persons Ms. Rajni Rao and Mr. Gaurav Palia took the sessions.

l On 29th July, 2017 a workshop on ‘Recent changes in curriculum’ was conducted at Ryan International Schools, Rohini. It was an effort to equip the teachers with updated knowledge regarding Commerce curriculum. The workshop turned out to be a huge success as it was attended by more than 220 teachers from North and West Delhi. The Resource person who enlightened the subject was Prof. V. Wason.

l On 8th July, 2017 an exclusive workshop on Accountancy was conducted at Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri, New Delhi. The resource person was Dr. Vikas Vijay who updated the teachers with the recent changes in the curriculum. In his workshop, he emphasised on the need of effective teaching methodology. The workshop was attended by app. 220 teachers from South Delhi Schools.

International Commerce Olympiad 2017

l In the month of November, 2017 International Commerce Olympiad was organised. First time CTF made an effort to hold the ICO at two different dates viz. 17th and 28th November 2017. The overwhelming response of the students was evident from the participation of 32,000 students from more than 456 schools from India and more than four Middle East region countries.

Milestone – ‘Celebrating a Decade’

l On 13th May, 2017 CTF organized Felicitation Function Milestone - ‘Celebrating a Decade’ at Chinmaya Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi to commensurate its 10 eventful years. CTF was formed on 30th April, 2007 with a vision to provide platform to the commerce teachers’ fraternity for the mutual sharing of teaching pedagogies, methods and expertise so as to accelerate their professional growth. Looking forward to continued journey of professional growth with the support and wishes of academic fraternity.

CTF Fraternity Excursion Trips

l On 13th May. 2017 a trip to Lohagarh was organised by CTF for its members. It was organised with a view to enhance the social ties among the members and also to energize the teachers. The members named it as ‘Rejuvenation trip’.

l On 29th April, 2018 CTF organised a trip to Pratapgarh farms, Jhajjar to celebrate its 11th Birth Anniversary. The trip was organised just to refresh the teachers as CTF believes that recreational activities are required to maintain our mental equilibrium.

Commerce Olympiad : Pioneering Initiative

Right from inception CTA’s has been taking pioneering initiatives furthering the learning and teaching

of commerce subjects. Among them is the Commerce Olympiad which was an experimental venture on 27th

November, 2009. The response and enthusiasm shown by the students, Management and the teachers was

beyond appreciation. Nearly 6,000 students appeared at the examination of which approximately 3,600 were

from class XI the rest from XII. It is a matter of pride for CTA that many reputed school made it compulsory for

the students to appear at Olympiad, being voluntary on their part. This response only justified our initiative.

Our previous Olympiad which was 9th International Commerce Olympiad conducted on 17th and 28th

November 2017. The overwhelming response of the students was evident from the participation of 32,000

students from more than 456 schools from India and more than four Middle East region countries. In all more

than 1,70,000 students have appeared from 950 schools of 106 cities of India and overseas.

It gives us sense of pride to share that many schools look forward to this prestigious exam, and this

becomes the part of their academic calendar. Further schools make it compulsory event for their students, as it

holds value in the eyes of the teaching community and school management.

The executive Body of CTF extend its gratitude and sincere thanks to the teachers, school management

for their constant and enthusiastic support for making all our Olympiads a resounding success.

As a mark of appreciation and motivation CTF confers “Vanijya Shree“ and “Award for Highest

Participation in Commerce Olympiad” to the deserving students and the schools. For the year 2017 the top

honours for International Commerce Olympiad were:

Interactive Video Sessions … Another Pioneering Initiative CTF has consistently and diligently laying foundation for the growth of the students and teachers. It has been a launching pad for those who wish to explore the vast ocean of knowledge and information. It is working consistently for the professional growth of the teachers and also for the intellectual development of the students by sharpening their intellect.

As change is inevitable truth of learning. Keeping in mind the latest adaption and use of technologies to simplify learning of the concepts, various interactive videos are being developed by CTF on Accountancy and Business Studies.

In the month of Feb, 2018 – March 2018 some videos on Accountancy and Business Studies were developed. The purpose of such videos was to help and give the students for their preparation.

Objectives of International Commerce Olympiad-2018:

Promoting excellence in Accountancy and Business Studies.

To assess the conceptual understanding /clarity of the subjects

To develop a feel for competitive exam which the students may pursue after schooling like BBA or Foundation exam conducted by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, ICSI & other such Exams.

To assist in preparing for Application Based Question as a part of CBSE exams Prizes & Recognition:

Merit Certificate shall be given to all those who secure 60% and above

Participation Certificate shall be given to all those who secure 33% to 59%

A topper with a minimum score of 60% marks of each class (from each school) will make the candidate eligible for a Trophy and Certificate of Excellence.

GUIDELINES FOR CONDUCTING INTERNATIONAL COMMERCE OLYMPIAD-2018

1. th thOlympiad to be conducted on 16 November, 2018 (Friday) / 30 November (Friday) at prescribed time only.

Date once opted will not be changed in any circumstances.

2. Students appearing for the Olympiad should be given training well in advance that “How to fill OMR sheet?”

3. Envelops containing question papers and OMR sheets to be opened on the day of exam only

4. Sitting arrangement has to be made in such a manner that Exam is conducted at fair manner

5. Not more than 20-25 students be accommodated in a single room.

6. OMR sheets to be given to students 15 minutes in advance for filling them.

7. Invigilator should ensure that all Columns in OMR sheet are filled neatly and properly. Incomplete and improper OMR sheet and without signature of invigilator shall be rejected by CTF.

8. OMR sheets to be filled by Blue/Black pen only.

9. For every correct answer one mark shall be allotted and for every wrong answer ¼ mark shall be deducted.

10. Please ensure that student do not use any unfair means

11. No Calculator/Mobile/Electronic device be used during exam.

12. Only those students are permitted to appear for exam, who are registered with CTF for Olympiad purpose. No CHANGE or addition allowed at centre level.

13. While student signing attendance sheet please ensure that they give Answer Sheet serial number, as given at the top right at back side of OMR sheet.

14. In case any student is absent, write ABSENT with Red Pen in Student's signature column in the Attendance sheet

15. It is mandatory to write Mobile No. of candidate, as their respective results shall be sent to them through SMS.

16. Unused OMR sheet for absent student be returned to CTF., whereas unused Question Papers may be retained with the school.

17. Filled OMR sheets along with Respective Attendance sheet be kept in separate envelop as will be provided by CTF

18. Please ensure that enclosed Proforma and Feedback form are also filled and sent to CTF along with Filled OMR sheets after completion of the exam.

19. Please ensure that all the envelops containing OMR Sheets should be properly sealed and duly stamped by School Seal.
