These words are explicitly stated on an 8-foot sign at our facility because they are the underlying concern of all that we do, from innovation, research, and development to manufacturing, shipping, training, and customer service.

Res-Q-Jack products originated with Cris Pasto in 1992, when he joined his Fire Department and discovered that his BoWrench and other inventions from Cepco Tool could be adapted to stabiliza-tion and fire rescue. Pasto then developed several variations of the stabilizing jack stand, and when I acquired the company in 2004, these products grew into what we know today as Res-Q-Jack.

Since its conception, Res-Q-Jack continues to take the lead in vehicle stabilization and extrication tools. Our high performance lifting and rescue struts stand out from the rest because of our unique combination of innovation, versatility, and in-depth training.

INNOVATION. Our engineers are constantly researching and developing, and our many patents (shown to the right) are evidence of this consistent innovation. Our patents detail the lightest and strongest lifting struts available for patient access and entrapment; multifunction strut heads for rapid engagement; chains, straps, and stakes for safe restraint; and custom strut materials to fit each individual client’s needs.

VERSATILITY. Our tools can be used in a wide range of applications, from simple stabilization to active rescue and extrication of a pinned victim. Most commonly, our struts are used in vehicle, farm, storm, trench, aircraft, confined space, and other rescue environ-ments – but our customers continue to use our products in even more versatile ways. For instance, recently one of our struts was used to squeeze and seal an overturned fuel tanker hatch, in order to stop a spill in Trout Creek, NY and protect the nearby water reservoir.

TRAINING. Our products come with free, hands-on, in-service training. We want you to be comfortable and successful using our tools, and we take no shortcuts in order to ensure that you are properly trained and can use all of our products correctly. Understand-ing our pioneering stabilization techniques and methods will help your success in the field, and these lessons are integrated into our training program, at your facility.

Since the inception of Res-Q-Jack, we’ve met the ever-increasing demand for the best in vehicle rescue equipment through innovation, versatility, and training as well as our dedication to listening to our customers and the rescue community at large for new and interest-ing ideas.

CAR COLLIDES WITH BRIDGE GUARDRAILOriginally posted on 1st Responder Network

STONY HILL, CT - On Friday, June 11, 2010, at about 2:00 pm, Stony Hill Fire Department was dispatched to an MVA with extrication on I-84 eastbound between exits eight and nine. EMS units arrived and confirmed the extrication assignment with a single vehicle on the guardrail head on into a bridge abutment with two critical patients. Stony Hill Rescue 2 took command and went to work.

Rescue 2 used Res-Q-Jacks to shore the vehicle and began extrication as units from Danbury Fire Department and Bethel Fire Department respond-ed and provided additional manpower and tools to perform the extrication. Patients were removed in short order and transported to Danbury Hospital.

X-STRUTS USED IN TWO-VEHICLE MVCOriginally posted on 1st Responder Network

CHARLESTON, SC - City of Charleston Engine 111, Tower 105, Battalion 104, and St. Andrews Rescue 301 responded to a

reported vehicle collision on Savannah Highway. Upon arrival, Engine 111 established command and reported a two vehicle MVC with one vehicle on its side, confirmed entrapment, and power lines down. Additional resourc-es were requested.

Tower 105 arrived and stabilized the vehicle using two X-struts on the undercarriage side with a tie back to a large bush. Disen-tanglement con-sisted of a complete roof removal due to patient condi-tion and location as well as construction features of the roof including a sun roof and curtain airbags.

OVERTURNED VEHICLE STABILIZED WITH RES-Q-JACK RESCUE STRUTSOriginally posted on 1st Responder Network

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Jefferson Township Fire Co #2 and Jefferson Rescue Squad were dispatched to the scene of an overturned vehicle on Edison Road. The local township roads had just become coated with a slippery layer of freshly fallen snow causing multiple motor vehicle accidents.

Upon arrival, first responding units reported the driver of the overturned vehicle was still in the car unharmed,

but entrapped in the vehicle that came to rest at the crest of a steep hill.

Fire fighters stabilized the vehicle using cribbing and Res-Q-Jacks, and the driver was safely removed from the vehicle.

Featuring threaded collars in place of our standard pins, the SUPER X is our most intuitive strut, and fastest to deploy. And it’s not just effective for vehicle stabilization, lifting, and extrication. It’s also rugged enough for structural collapse, trench, and mine rescue (see our Technical Kits on pgs. 21-22 for more info). The SUPER X comes standard with a hollow inner tube for a light-er-weight strut, but may be purchased with a solid inner tube as well, for a higher working load.

We build our equipment and kits the way we do because we think it’s the best design possible, based on generations of first-hand experience, engineering, and research. But we understand if your own experiences and unique environments dictate differently.

With this in mind, we are happy to offer equipment to suit your specific needs, as well as modify kits to give you the best possible individual package. To accommodate your needs, we can make changes to many aspects of our struts, includ-ing but not limited to: tubing extension stops, base design, stop pin selection, extension length, collapsed dimension, or number of telescopic sections. You can also Have It Your Way by constructing a unique kit of struts and accessories. Although our kits are designed for different stabilization and lifting scenarios, adding a few struts or accessories can often take an existing kit to new heights. Please contact us to create your own unique kit.
