    Royal Rangers Malaysia Holds NTC

The thirteenth National Training Camp of Royal Rangers Malaysia was heldin Kuala Lumpur, May 29 to June 1. A total of 42 leaders from Malaysia and

Indonesia participated. Instructors reminded the trainees that children arebserving and mimicking them and that they can have a positive impact in theirutposts.

ainee Adrian Looi had the following experience:

DAY 1. The first day I felt trepidation and fear, and I was unprepared forthe camp. My stamina was nowhere near that of other candidates. In therush, rush, rush of the camp, the instructors were surprisingly reasonabledifferent than I had anticipated. My extremely good patrol mates shared theworkload. I was dead tired, dirty, and stinking, a far cry from my cushy andcomfy environment at home and at work. I couldnt get out of my mind that I

was scheduled for work in the early hours of the last day of camp. Worse still, Igave up a lucrative job assignment to attend this camp. I thought of quitting.

DAY 2. There was more rushing and sweating. I was feeling really self-

conscious about how I smelled to others. In my profession, it is imperati

look and smell good at all times.

DAY 3. I no longer cared about how uncomfortable and tired I felt or t

was hot and raining. I cared more about not letting my patrol mates dow

about getting the job done. If Jesus could suffer so much for me, this was

easier to endure. If I come away from this camp a better father or teacher

it is worth the sacrifice. I was actually enjoying the camp!

The moment that I had to leave camp for work was approaching, and

dreading the drive. I did not want to abandon my patrol mates. Then I no

I had missed two calls on my mobile phone from my office. When I call

the officer asked if I minded not coming to work that morning. I replied w

steady voice and pretended to be nonchalant, even though I was thrustin

palm in the air and praising God in my mind. The officer gave me four ch

in duty patterns, a real rarity in my profession. I had tears in my eyes. God

    came through for me.
