Welcome to Royal Holloway,University of London. You are
about to embark on your next
big challenge, a University of
London MBA or MSc, developed
by Royal Holloway.
Our MBA and MSc in International
Management have been accredited
by AMBA, the Association of
MBAs in the UK, putting us in an
elite group of MBA providers. This
important quality accreditation
gives you the assurance that
studying the programme will
give you the opportunity toachieve a qualification that
is recognised worldwide.
Our MSc in International Business
has been developed for students
who would find it difficult to attend
the face-to-face plenary sessions
and who are in need of a more
compact programme of studies.
Both MSc programmes provide a
firm foundation for postgraduate
research and study and offer an
excellent basis from which to
further careers in management.
At Royal Holloway, we arecommitted to excellence in both
teaching and research and our
programmes fully reflect this ethos.

the management of private, public
and voluntary sector organisations.
A shared feature of our research is its
international and comparative focus,
with a strong historical, sociological
and political-economic approach to
management issues and activities.
Intellectual rigour
Studying diverse organisations andpractices is central to our educational

appropriate to the intellectual rigour
required at postgraduate level. Many
members of the School are consultants
to, or directors of, a range of international
businesses. The teaching and study

I would definitely
recommend
the degree to
anybody who
needs flexibility
and is unable
to do an onsite
course. I alreadytravelled a lot,
and I knew for
a while that I was going to be moving
abroad, and I knew that my studies could
follow me wherever I went. It is a great
course for anybody who is internationally
mobile and has a high degree of
uncertainty in their lives. Nowadays, a
lot of people, working for a lot of large
companies, are in such a situation.
Albert is an Account Director

Benjamin ZhuMBA in International Managementstudent, Germany
The unique part that I liked the most is that it is not
pure distance learning, but blended learning where
students meet and attend mandatory seminars and
projects. To make the programme more interesting
and lively, the lecturers are very proactive in the
forum discussions where we can participate anddiscuss concepts with students from all over the
world. We also have very detailed study guides that
lead us to achieve the objectives of each module.
The decision to study the MBA programme is both
for personal and professional advancement. I have
learned a lot from the programme and from the
discussions with the experienced lecturers and
classmates and am able to implement many
theories into practice at work. The programmehas also helped me to think strategically.

UK plenary sessionsPlenary 1(Introduction)
Travel and accommodation
Plenary 2(ConsultancyGroup Project)
We strongly recommend that
you attend the first week ofthe plenary as early as possible
in your studies. Apart from
academic and social group
activities, week one includes
a range of master classes on
all the core modules which
will be very helpful for your
studies and your examinations.
This week will not include anyassessed work and there are
no prerequisites for attending
the first week of the plenary.
You are required to have
attempted the assessment(tutor-marked assignment and
examination) for all nine MBA
or all seven MSc core modules
prior to attending week two
of the plenary session.This
consists of career and personal
development sessions and focuses
on your case study group project.
The assessed part of the plenary the group presentation and report
also takes place during this week.
Royal Holloway will provide
the necessary support and
documentation for students
who require visas to attend
these sessions in the UK.
All students are required to make their own arrangements
for travel and accommodation when attending the plenary
sessions at Royal Holloway. However, we will provide you
with comprehensive information on how and where to book
accommodation on campus or any other close-by (walkingdistance) accommodation in a B&B or guest house/hotel.
Held in June/July, the sessions are intensive,
but you will get a lot out of them. In addition,
the face-to-face element allows you to work
in a small group and practice leadership skills.
The two plenary sessions are compulsory
for students registered for the MBA
and MSc in International Management.
Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate
Certificate students, and students on theInternational Business programme can opt
to attend the plenary sessions if they wish.
Taking place over two separate weeksat Royal Holloway, the plenary sessionsare incredibly useful. They providean opportunity to receive face-to-face teaching from Royal Hollowayacademics and to develop networkswith your colleagues on the programme.

Xenia Borissova-DemidovaMBA in InternationalManagement student, UKThe MBA fit perfectly with my career plan
every new module opens a door to a variety
of subjects, or else it enriches already acquiredspecialisms. Some subjects are sufficient by
themselves, others inspire you to dig deeper.
The best time to network is at the MBA on-
campus plenary sessions set in the gorgeous
Royal Holloway campus, set in 135 acres
of woodland next to Windsor. I would
connect with a wider MBA community via
LinkedIn, which is a tool I rate very highly.
It is the only mode of studying that allows me tocombine the seemingly impossible to progress
academically, to still be able to travel a lot, to have
free evenings, to fit in family time and social life,
and, generally, to do it the way that fits for you.

Face-to-face sessions
Plenary group workThe group work forms an
important part of the MBA
and MSc in InternationalManagement schedule and
experience. The group project
comprises a group presentation
and a written group report.
The presentation and report
focus on relevant management
issues, functions, and
organisational outcomes. The
group work draws on practicalapplication of theory gained
from the study of the core
subjects on the MBA and MSc.
Session aims 1 To assist you in understanding
the linkages between the
various core management
functions Accounting and
finance, Human resources
management, Organizational
behaviour, Strategy, Operations
management, Information
systems, and marketing.
2 To provide a forum in which
to discuss the practical
elements of leadershipand group working.
3 To provide an environment
in which distance learning
students can experience
the networking aspects soimportant in an MBA and
MSc programme. The project
material is case study based,
with each group being given
a case study on which to base
their presentations and report.
The first part of the project
focuses on literature review and
problem identification, and thesecond part focuses on case
study analysis and interpretation.
In both portions of the project
you are expected to gather
further information from library
and web sources, evaluate this
information and use it to inform
their approach to the case study
assigned. There is also a strong
emphasis on group dynamics.
AssessmentGroup work is a compulsory
part of the MBA and MSc in
International Management. The
Group work will be assessed
by a group presentationand a group report.
