    St. Barnabas ThriftStore is hoping toclear out some of itsstock at an upcoming sale.

    The thrift store raisesfunds for St. BarnabasChurchs many commun-ity programs, includinga lunch program and anemergency food cup-board. The store, openWednesday to Saturdayfrom 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.,sells a variety of items,including clothing, house-wares and knickknacks.

    Roxee Forrest, thechurchs associate warden,said the thrift store is hav-ing a big sale on Saturday,Aug. 31.

    Shoppers will get a bagof clothing for $2.

    It will help people out,but it will also help clearus out too, she said. Thestuff never stops comingin.

    In addition to clothing,the shop features sales onother items as well.

    The St. Barnabas ThriftStore is located at 1010Fifth Ave.

    Church fun runSt. Aidans Presbyterian

    Church is inviting com-munity members to runfor fun.

    The church is holdinga Community Spirit FunRun on Saturday, Aug. 31.The event, which includesa five-kilometre walk ora 10 km bike ride, getsunderway with registra-tion at 8:30 a.m. and takesto the streets at 9 a.m.

    The run costs $5 perperson or $15 for a familyof four plus. It includesdraws, refreshments andfun.

    Fall craft fairThe Ladies Auxiliary

    of the Fraternal Order ofEagles #20 is encouragingpeople to rent tables earlyfor its fall craft fair.

    The auxiliary is spon-soring a craft fair onSaturday, Nov. 9 from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at theCAW Hall at 707 12thSt. Proceeds from thetables will help supportlocal charities. Tables are$20 each, and people are

    expected to provide theirown liability insurance.

    The NewWestminsterschool district is now seek-ing requests from commun-ity service providers whoare interested in providingservices and/or program-ing at the new QayqaytElementary School, whichis currently under construc-tion.

    As a part of the overallplan to build the school,the district has securedfunds from the govern-ments Neighbourhoodsof Learning program. Thefunds would be used tobuild an additional 15 percent of space at the newschool to meet indentifiedneeds in the community.

Note that thedeadline for guarantee of placement in your neighbourhood schools was June 7th, 2013. However, students will beaccommodated in their neighbourhood school as space is available.Kindergarten: Kindergarten students enter school gradually. Parents are providedwith a schedule for parent orientation,interviews, and their childs gradual entry through September 13th.     Wardle, along with local per-former Don McLeod, ishosting a gala and char-ity auction at 7 p.m. onSaturday, Aug. 31 atVancouvers SandmanHotel in support ofthe Prostate CancerFoundation of B.C.

    The event will feature WardlesHeartland co-stars as well asAntonioCupo from Bomb Girls and AdamBeach from Arctic Air.

    Saturdays event is thekickoff to a six-day motor-cycle ride both Wardle and

    Squamish and Vancouver.Dubbed Cruise with a Cause,

    the fundraising event was initiatedby Wardle in memory of his grand-

    father, Dominic Donatelli, who diedof prostate cancer 30 years ago.

    Graham is ridingin honour of his grand-fathers memory and infact, was named after him,Graham Dominic Wardle,GrahamsmomDebWardlewrote in an email.
