Routine Care for Trumpet

• Cleaning: o Turn trumpet upside down under bathtub faucet, bell facing

up. o Turn on warm water full blast into bell and let it run through

the trumpet for a minute or two. This will remove dust and debris.

o Turn trumpet back around. Blow through the lead pipe (without mouthpiece) forcing the excess water out of the instrument.

o Repeat these steps until no dirt comes out. o Empty slides of remaining water.

• Valves – Oil each valve individually by carefully removing value and applying 3-4 drops of valve oil on the valve.

• Wipe the mouthpiece off after each use. Swab with alcohol to kill germs (mouth piece ONLY).

• Dust with a soft cloth. A polishing cloth can be used to protect the metal.
