Dr. Julia Klees, associate medical director of BASF, a multi-national company and the second largest producer of chemicals and related products in North America, will discuss the basics of medical surveillance and workplace management for occupational asthma. She will also talk about workplace evaluation of symptoms and substance specific program considerations for diiscoyanates, enzymes, and platinum salts. Speaker Bio Julia E. Klees’s responsibilities at BASF include management of the corporate medical surveillance program, fitness for duty assessment, and medical audit programs. She works with site managers and functional groups regarding management of occupational health issues, reproductive hazard assessment, medical emergency response, health promotion programs, employee assistance programs, workers’ compensation, and work re-entry from short-term disability. She consults with her colleagues in Environmental Health and Safety on the relationship of health effects to toxicology and industrial hygiene. Dr. Klees contributes to the worldwide BASF Group Chemical Emergency Medical Guidelines, occupational medicine performance standards. She earned a medical degree from Hahnemann University and an MPH from University of California Berkeley, with residencies and board certifications in internal and occupational medicine.
