DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE
It is an honor to serve you as our District’s Governor for 2013-14. The position of governor is one of stewardship. For the next year, I will have the privilege of leading our district to help your club grow and strengthen so that each is successful in providing service both locally and to communities in far corners of our world.
This year’s theme, Engage Rotary, Change Lives, emphasizes the possibilities of what our Rotary wheel can do to increase the impact of individual Rotarians. If our own wheel is engaged with others in our club, the result will be stronger clubs. When clubs put the cogs of their wheel into gear by working together, the impact and visibility of our service is increased. As our wheels mesh with the gears of other clubs internationally, well, the opportunities are endless. Each Rotarian will decide if the Rotary wheel will spin by itself or if it will be engaged to produce powerful, meaningful Rotary service.
To Engage Rotary it will require reaching out to each member of our club. If our clubs are to thrive, they must be welcoming and offer opportunity for each member’s active involvement. To Engage Rotary we must get our brand out in our communities by sharing our Rotary story with friends and business acquaintances, sharing just why we are proud to be Rotarians. Engaging Rotary means including and involving our families - our children and grandchildren - to teach them the feeling of pride that comes through helping others.
My hope is that each of you rediscovers your Rotary passion and invites someone else to share in it. I am excited to visit your clubs, to get to know more of you, to work side by side with you, and to help you share your Rotary story. My goal is to be a good steward of our district for the coming year: to support the good work of each club, to help engage new opportunities for service, and to build connections that will re-engage Rotarians whose wheels may have become disconnected.Through Rotary service, we can do so much. Thank you for what you do through Rotary, it makes a difference.Engage Rotary, Change Lives.Carolyn
