Itinerary

Greensboro Area

September 30 (Friday)—group arrives separately and stays at Proximity Hotel. District

7690 Rotarians to meet them at the airport as schedules permit. Otherwise, they will take

the hotel shuttle to the Proximity Hotel.

October 1 (Saturday)–

Breakfast at the hotel.

10:30-11:30 Green tour of the Proximity Hotel.

11:30 Shuttle will take people to the Conrads for lunch.

Australians then go home with their hosts.

October 2 (Sunday) -- Day of rest, church, activities with hosts.

2:00-5:00 Tour of Greensboro Historical Museum and Civil Rights Museum.

5:30 Supper for team and hosts at Jamesford Meadows Clubhouse, 6278 Akela Trail

in Jamestown.

October 3 (Monday) –

9:00 – 12:00 a.m. Tour of Greensboro to be arranged by the Greensboro Club.

12:30-1:30 Lunch with Crescent Rotary Club. Team will be the program with an

INFORMAL presentation (maybe Peter Robinson could give a brief intro to Australia

and each member could speak briefly about themselves).

1:30-3:00 Shopping at Friendly Shopping Center or other local activity of the guest’s

choice.

3:00 Have "Tea" together at O.Henry Hotel in lobby.

5:00 Dinner with host families.

October 4 -- (Tuesday)

7:00 – RFE Team program at Greensboro Airport Club.

8:30 - Lexington Rotary Club will pick up visitors in Greensboro.

12:15– Lunch at Lexington Rotary Club—RFE team to be the program.

1:30 - Option A - Visit Childress Vineyards

1:30 - Option B - Visit RCR Racing Museum

3:00 (flexible) - Return to Greensboro

4:00 hosts pick up and dinner with hosts.

October 5 (Wednesday)–

10:00 to Winston-Salem for tour of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative

Medicine.

11:00 a.m. Meet at parking lot of Grace Moravian Church to enjoy a hike and picnic

and interpretive talk from a Pilot Mountain Ranger.

5:30-6:30 Wine tasting and tour of winery at Old North State Winery followed by

dinner downtown at the home of Sue and Hal Brownfield.

Friday, October 7 –

Breakfast with host families.

8:00 a.m. meet at Grace Moravian Church.

Visit to historic Bedford Normandy Landing World War II memorial (Australians and

Americans were allies at this landing).

Lunch at Liberty Train Station where the ―Boys from Bedford‖ left to join the Army.

2:00 leave Bedford.

4:00 tour and wine tasting at Chateau Morrisette.

5:30 Dinner at Chateau Morrisette.

Saturday, October 8 –

Breakfast with host families.

8:30 meet at Grace Moravian Church Parking lot.

9:30 meet at Lowe’s Hardware in Elkin and depart to Stone Mountiain State Park.

10:30 Begin the Wolf Rock hike.

12:30 Depart back to Elkin for lunch.

1:00 lunch at 21st and Main Restaurant.

2:30 Depart for Raffaldini Vineyards.

3:00 Wine tasting and tour of Raffaldini Vineyard.

4:30 Depart for Yadkinville.

Southern Part of District

Tuesday Oct 11th: --

Mid-afternoon: Mt Airy Rotary Club delivers RFE Team to Siler City to Chatham

County Arts Incubator after their lunch meeting for Team coffee break, view Arts,

and to stretch legs.

Sanford, Jonesboro, and San-Lee Sunrise Rotarians will deliver RFE Team to Sanford

for dinner with host families.

Wednesday Oct 12th: --

RFE Team will be picked up at St. Luke UMC by Siler City Rotary Club, which will

provide transportation and hosting for the day.

Day includes a trip to Southern Supreme Nutty Fruitcake via Hwy 42 through rural

Chatham County

Lunch at and a tour of the NC Zoo in Asheboro.

The Siler City Rotary Club will provide transportation back to Sanford and be invited

to attend a cookout of hot dogs and hamburgers at Westlake Club, along with the RFE

team, Host Families, and Area 10 Presidents and spouses.

Thursday Oct 13th

Visit Sanford City Hall with Keys to City presentation by Mayor Cornelia Olive.

Temple Theater walk thru and downtown shops and walking tour.

Lunch will be at Jonesboro Rotary Club meeting with RFE Team as guests providing

the program with other Area 10 Rotary Clubs invited to attend.

Afternoon consists of new high school, middle school and Community College drive

bys along with other industry sites.

Early afternoon with dinner at Host Families.

Friday Oct 14th

RFE Team will be transported to Raleigh for state capital tour of Governor's

Mansion, Legislative Building, Museum of Natural Sciences & History, and Old

Capitol Building, all within walking distance.

Conclude with lunch at Museum of Art and walkabout tour there. All these venues

are free to the public, and lunch will be Dutch treat at the Museum of Art.

Dinner with host families.

Saturday Oct 15th

This will be a day of rest, last minute shopping, golfing, boating, goofing off or

nearby side trips as determined by our Aussie RFE and Host Families.Dinner with

Host Families.

An early Farewell BBQ Dinner ( 5PM Cocktails, 6PM Dinner) will be held at the

home of Rotarian Lynn and Emory Sadler with Aussie RFE Team, Host Families,

Transportation Committee, and Presidents and spouses of Area 10 Clubs being

invited to attend.

Sunday October 16--

As this is our last day together, this will truly be a day of rest. Arrangements can be

easily made for those who want to attend church. As no formal get togethers are

planned, Aussie RFE Team and Host Families may plan their last day together. For

those who may be leaving earlier, special arrangements have been made to

accommodate everyone's travel plans.

It has truly been the pleasure of Area 10 Rotary Clubs of Jonesboro, Sanford, San-Lee

Sunrise and Siler City to host our new BFF from District 9640 in Australia this week,

and we hope to see you again soon.
