Dear Rotarians,
Rotary was built upon the idea of advancing goodwill and understanding – it’s
in our mission, and part of everything we do. The Rotary Foundation has six
areas of focus, each of which is important. But every one of them depends on
peace in the world.
There are endless ways to help build peace in our world, through our clubs
and through our Foundation. The polio eradication initiative, as the largest
global public health initiative in history, is doing a tremendous amount to
promote peace – by building partnerships between the public and private
sectors, by improving health infrastructure and monitoring the poorest areas,
and by making it clear to all that we cannot have a healthy world if even one
child is forgotten.
This month, we celebrate World Understanding Month and Rotary’s 115th
birthday, the efforts of every club and Rotarian should be directed toward
doing something for peace. The district is pleased to announce Steven
Shepelwich, member of the Oklahoma City Rotary Club as our Rotary Peace
Fellowship Subcommittee Chair; and he will be guiding our efforts...

DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE — CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE
Together, we promote peace. Building a peaceful world begins in our own backyards. That’s why Rotary
brings communities together to learn from our differences, gain new perspectives, and form stronger
connections. Promoting peace through understanding - that’s what people of action do.
Yours in Rotary,
Lance Singleton

DISTRICT 5750 NEWS
PRESIDENT-ELECT TRAINING SEMINAR 2020
This past week I had the privilege to travel to San Diego and attend the
International Assembly. This is an annual event where all 500+ District
Governor Elects from around the world come together to learn and make
final preparations for their Rotary year. Rotary International President
Elect Holger Knaack also announced his theme which is “Rotary Opens
Opportunities”. It is now time for all club presidents to do the same at
PETS on March 19-21 in Fort Smith, AR. Because this date is rapidly
approaching we are asking that all President Elects ensure that they are
registered no later than February 20th. All incoming club presidents are
required to attend, and we also encourage clubs to send their President
Nominees. A message with full details have been sent to many of the
incoming Presidents already, however there are still a handful of clubs
that have not reported their officer information. Please ensure that if your
club is still in the process of selecting a President Elect, that they have the
details for this training and you help get your PE registered as soon as
possible. As a reminder there is no cost to the clubs for PE and PN
registration and meals for Friday and Saturday as this is covered by the
District. I am excited about the year ahead of us and look forward to working with all of our clubs.

DISTRICT 5750 HISTORY PROJECT
In the current District Directory PDG Megan went to the effort to list our PDGs and to identify the Theme for
their year. She had to work pretty hard to go back that far. This prompted the idea that it might be beneficial
to begin to work on an anthology of what went on in the District during each PDG’s year and to collect in one
place the memorabilia connected with each year.
To that end, we would like to ask each PDG to provide a short…no more than one page summary of what
they most remembered about their year in terms of accomplishments, service, activities, firsts, or what ever
else comes to their mind. The goal will be to catch up where we can and to begin a tradition of having each
DG present their summary at the Conference and then have it go into the archives.
Too, there was a time when the District Directory was not online. We would like to ask anyone who might
have a hard copy of a District Directory to let us have/borrow it for archiving or scanning. Hopefully some of
the club members who are long term Rotarians will have kept a copy from a time they were on a committee.
Theme Pins, we need pins. Every year there is a theme pin. We would like to collect as many of these as
we can. I know a lot of Rotarians have drawers full of pins that they picked up at PETS, District Assembly or
District Conference.
Here is what we have so far: Build The Future - Create Awareness, Take Action – Mankind is our Business
– Sow the Seeds of Love – Lend a Hand (2 versions) – Celebrate Rotary – Service Above Self – Lead the
Way (2 versions) – Rotary Shares – Make Dreams Real – Light Up Rotary – Be a Gift to the World – Rotary:
Making a Difference. So, everyone please look in their pin drawer and see if you have one that is not on the
list, them let us know.
International Convention Pins. Every International Convention has its own pin. I know we have Rotarian at
virtually every International Convention, so we need your Convention Pins. Here is what we have so far:
Calgary ’96, Indianapolis 1998, Buenos Aires 2000, and San Antonio 2001

January we are collecting peanut butter and jelly. At the end of the
month, we take it to the local food pantry. This pantry is open every
Saturday from 10-12 noon here in Chandler and our club will be
volunteers in May.
