ROTARY CLUB OF SANTA CRUZ SUNRISE YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS Rotary Club of Santa Cruz Sunrise PO Box 7026 Santa Cruz CA 95061 www.SantaCruzSunriseRotary.org The Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Club seeks to encourage graduating Santa Cruz area high school seniors in their goals for further education. Rotary scholarships are available for both academic and vocational fields of study. Applications are available from your school counselor. Your completed application is due in the counselor’s office no later than Friday April 20, 2012. Rotary Academic Scholarships. Applicants must be planning to complete a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college or university, or be planning to complete an associate’s degree from a community college. Successful applicants will have demonstrated a high degree of academic ability, be engaged in extracurricular activities on campus, and have involved themselves in community service. Students attending a four-year university will receive up to $4,000 ($1,000/year). Students attending a two-year community college will receive up to $1400 ($700/year). Merit Awards: These awards are based only on the student’s academic achievement, engagement in extracurricular activities and community service. Needs-Based Awards: These scholarships will be awarded on the same basis as the merit awards, but will also take into account the applicant’s need for financial assistance. Rotary Vocational Scholarships. Applicants must be planning to enter a vocational field by attending a vocational/technical school or a community college. Successful applicants will be able to articulate their plans and goals in their chosen field of study. Being active in school and community life is considered a plus. This scholarship award is for up to $1,400 ($700/year) while enrolled at a vocational/technical school or a community college. John Caldwell Community Service Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded in honor of Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary member John Caldwell who, by example, is living a life of service to his community. The successful applicant will have demonstrated a commitment to the community by participating actively in school and/or community service. Students attending a four-year university will receive up to $4,000 ($1,000/ year). Students attending a two-year community college will receive up to $1400 ($700/year). Questions?
