Volume 58, No. 6 11 August 2016 Meets Thursdays 6pm for 6.30pm at the Foundry Hotel
High St, Golden Square.
“Rotary Serving Humanity”
Stop Press: Robert Walls Dinner scheduled for this Wednesday
August 17 has been cancelled due to insufficient support. Regular meeting has been now scheduled for Thursday August 18 at Foundry Arms at the usual time.
President’s weekly message..... At our meeting held on Thursday August 11 we welcomed two guests. Bob Wiseman, a past President and a recent recipient of a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Rotary Club of Kangaroo Flat. Bob kindly presented us with a cheque for $250 for a BBQ Gary and I helped them out with at short notice. Jane Robson, a former member of the Rotary Club of Ballarat also was again a welcome visitor. The Business Plan for 2016 – 2017 was presented for the coming Rotary year with each director contributing to the overall presentation. Copies of this plan will soon be available on our website under the member section for those who wish to study it in more detail. We also provided those present with a quick over view of our new website and how to find all the good things it contains. As we are constantly adding to it to make it even more useful please offer us further suggestions of what you would like to see it contain. It is now one of our vital tools of communication, along with the weekly Signpost. The Membership Committee has been working for some time on two main areas. Firstly, a Corporate Model of Club Membership and also a step by step strategy in targeting and recruiting individual members. Our taskforce will soon be making some approaches to up to six local corporations to gauge the interest in taking up the opportunity to become a Corporate member of our club. Secondly, all members will be emailed during this coming week a copy of a working paper outlining our marketing strategy specifically prepared to assist the ongoing recruiting of individual members. This paper has been designed in such a way to encourage further input from all members so please feel free to add your responses where the gaps have been provided. I would then ask you to return it to me via return email. On the last Sunday of this month we have our lunch and guided tour of the Avonmore Winery. This is a great opportunity to bring partners and friends along in a relaxing setting so we all get to

know each other a little more. Two years ago when we did a member survey there was a recommendation to the board to endeavour to have more social activities that partners could be invited to. The old idea of declaring dinner meetings partners nights no longer seems to work. We have listened to this request but it is now up to members to support these events. Please provide Jenny Hughes and /or Ros Chenery your numbers during the coming week. Also start thinking about the District Conference in Shepparton and take advantage of the early bird discount. See you all this Thursday at the Foundry. Tony Plant.
