emphasizing outreach to alumni of various programs like GSE Grant and Scholarship recipients youth programs and others. Doesn’t include former Rotarians per se… the folks that have left Rotary, although some alumni might fit that category. IDEA: some of these people may want to re-engage with Rotary: not necessarily as members, although that’s always good to see… but maybe as volunteers at your events, or mentors or speakers for your club. Maybe as donors… So who are these alumni?

ALUMNI STATISTICS

How many alumni are there?

Potentially 500,000 former program participants.

2015-16 RI database

286,000 alumni records

13,410 are Rotarians (4.6%)

54% interested in membership

18% volunteered with Rotary in past year

Up to a half million alumni. RI has records on just over half that number. Fewer than 5% are Rotarians, although most expressed an interest in Rotary and a significant number volunteered with Rotary over the last year.

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Highest % of current Rotarians comes from the GSE folks: all adults, all young professionals when they participated. I’d have hoped for a higher number of Rotarians out of the group of 94 Ambassadorial scholars… I’ll work on that. Rotaractors: only one Rotarian so far, but most of the clubs were started in the last 9 years so it might be a little early for some of them to become Rotarians. But I think that’s a group that we really need to keep actively engaged. The rest are, for the most part, kids or very young adults. We need to keep them involved as they move through school and beyond.

Presentation Notes
Here’s what we can do. I can prepare a list like this of alumni sponsored by each club and get that info to your president and secretary. I’ll include contact info if available. If not, I’d ask you to see if any of your members know how to find these people.

Alumni ages 13+ can update contact information

Alumni 18+ can use discussion boards

Presenter
Presentation Notes
Encourage alumni we reach to update their information on My Rotary Some Rotarians have mentioned that it is difficult to keep track of alumni because they move so much. There are new features on rotary.org to make this easier. The access on My Rotary are distinguished by age and security level. Alumni under age 13 cannot access My Rotary. Alumni ages 13+ can update their own contact information by updating their My Rotary Profile, automatically updating Rotary’s database, but if under 18, their information is not shared with the Rotary community and they cannot be in discussion boards. Alumni 18+ will have access to discussion boards and can connect with Rotarians and other alumni
