In gardens’ muteness, in spring, in the nights’ mist,

Over a rose sings the nightingale of East.

But doesn’t feel anything nor hear this charming rose,

And to the loving hymn just swings and calmly dozes.

Not in this way you sing for beauty, cold and hard?

Come to your senses, bard, where do you stream your heart?

She does not hear nor feel the poet’s soul, fervent;

You look – she is in bloom, you call – the answer’s absent

A Nightingale and a Rose By Aleksandr Puskin, Renowned Russian Poet Descendent of the African General Abraham Hannibal

Francis Ray is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. Francis Ray is a

native Texan and lives in Dallas. A graduate of Texas Woman's University. In 1999 and

2000 she was nominated for Texas Woman's University Distinguished Alumni Award.

She was honored to give the 2010 winter commencement address. Ms. Ray's titles consis-

tently make bestseller's lists such as Blackboard and Essence Magazine. She is the author

of over 35 novels...

Michele Grant grew up wanting to be a combination of Maya Angelou, Perry Mason, and

Eartha Kitt. Deciding that law books were dusty and boas not practical for everyday wear,

she's still clinging to that Maya Angelou dream. When not laboring away on the key-

board, she can be found trying to channel her "inner B. Smith", growing roses, trying new

recipes and wondering if just one more throw pillow works with that sofa? Her new title

is Pretty Boy Problems...

Shelia M. Goss is a national best-selling author and a 2012 Emma Award Finalist. She

has over thirteen books in print and over seven books as ebooks. She writes in multiple

genres: Christian fiction, romance, women's fiction, suspense, and young adult. USA To-

day says, "Goss has an easy, flowing style with her prose..."

Stephanie Morris is the author of sensual romance in the Contemporary African Ameri-

can, Interracial and Multicultural genres. She specializes in full-length novels but she

does have a few short stories as well. Sometimes her heroines have an edgier persona to

them and sometimes they are of a softer essence. But all the time, her heroines are like

real women, just trying to make a living and keep on going no matter what challenges

life brings her. Her new release is Her Secret Pleasure...

Keith Thomas Walker is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University where he earned a

bachelor’s degree in English. He enjoys reading, poetry, and music of all genres. Keith

currently works in administration at one of the city’s largest hospitals. He lives in Fort

Worth, Texas. He has written over fifteen books.

Black Romance and

Women's Fiction Book Club Rochelle Alers, Donna Hill, Brenda Jackson, Beverly Jenkins, Evelyn Palfrey,

Francis Ray...The list goes on and on. This book club is for readers to celebrate

black romance and women's fiction books and also read books as a group.

Our little book club has a few guidelines: 1. We read black romance and women's fiction books that are in print 2. We give a month sometimes two months to read the selected book. 3. We try to choose a debut au-thor or author much of the group hasn't read before quite often(so be on the look out). 4. We have FUN discussing the novel(s), those we like and don't like.
