  • CERGAS was established in 1978 to promote scientific research on healthcare management at national and international level. Nowadays, while keeping its focus on management of healthcare organizations, it is a multidisciplinary research center that investigates a vast array of issues and topics concerning healthcare management, health policy, health economics and not-for-profit organizations. CERGAS research fellows use the modern tools of management, economics, accounting, organizational research and policy analysis to better understand how welfare systems work at the micro and macro levels, and how to improve them through innovative and evidence-based solutions.

  • Vision, Mission & Intent

    The mission of CERGAS is to develop scientific knowledge to analyse, interpret and ultimately improve healthcare systems organisations and functioning. CERGAS is committed to provide health professionals (e.g. medical doctors, nurses, etc.) with basic understanding of management in order to deal with the increasing complexity faced by healthcare organisations in delivering services CeRGAS carries out research projects on topical issues in healthcare management, health policy, health economics and not-for-profit and disseminates them through publications in major scientific journals.   • What is MIHMEP?

    §  Truly international: through its contents, faculty members and students and thorough knowledge of the political, economic and social context in which health care systems operate around the world.

    §  It is the only program that mixes the business (private) and public

    views of healthcare: provides the specific skills needed to take on management roles in the private industry and government, international organizations, and health care providers.

    §  It gives a comprehensive education by synergistically delivering themes in healthcare management, economics, policy and public health

    §  It is the oldest international program of this kind in Europe and holds a leadership position

  • MIHMEP Extra-curricular Events 1 The International Case Competition Compete for Healthcare (C4H) – A Great Success! •  On 30th-31st May 2011 the first International Case Competition Compete for

    Healthcare was held by MIHMEP. •  12 Business Schools from around the world joined us in Milano to discuss a

    relevant case study based on the challenges facing modern healthcare systems. •  The atmosphere was highly professional and rigorous and jury panels –

    composed of academics, policymakers and industry representatives – were impressed by the way teams elaborated such a complex issue.

    •  Participants, Professors and jury members networked and developed new relationships that contribute to further strengthening the community of healthcare professionals around the world.

    •  Based on the massive success, the feedback, comments post event, the event should be repeated. But when. Every year or every two years?
