Korisa contributes in sporting and cultural events, and steps up for leadership roles within the school. She is a conscientious student and a great friend to us all. Well done Korisa!

MUFFY AWARD

SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT - A bicycle can’t stand alone, it’s two tired. - A chicken crossing the road is poultry in

motion. - The guy who fell onto an upholstery machine has fully recovered. - When you’ve seen one shopping centre you’ve seen a mall!

GARDEN GROUP

On Friday the gardening group made a yummy silver beet and cheese pie. We followed the recipe using all the ingredients. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to cook - AND IT WAS

DELICIOUS! - Ben and Zane

On the 25th of October we did cooking at gardening, we were making silver beet pie.

First we got the big silver beet out of the garden and took them to the kitchen. After that we washed them.

The ingredients were cottage cheese, grated cheese, silver beet, egg, nutmeg, bacon, pastry, salt, butter milk and butter. It took 5 minutes to cook the silver beet and it got all crushed up. Next we put butter on the trays so the pie wouldn’t stick and we also put the pastry on the trays.

Finally we whipped the eggs up, spread it over the pastry and put the ingredients in the tray and put the top layer of pasty on, then we put them in the oven. It took an hour to cook. Once it was done we tasted it and the pie was delicious!

- Lovinia, Rebecca and Erwin

KAPA HAKA GROUP

On the Kapa Haka day we got to get a bus ride into town. Before the bus ride we got into our uniforms. The uniforms were very beautiful. They were blue. We had to wear bare feet on the bus and for the performance. On the bus we all sang ‘The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round’.

When we got off the bus we were really cold, especially the boys because it was raining and the boys only got to wear a blue skirt and they had to take their tops off.

I felt really embarrassed because we were in town and there were lots of people around.

We had to do three songs. The songs were Whakarongo Ake Au, Kia U Kia Mau, and Tutira Mai. After we sang we got back on the bus, came back to school, got out of our uniforms and went back to class. I felt so glad

to perform for the school. - Zoe

KAPA BOOGIE On Tuesday 29th of October, at night, it was the Haka Boogie. Everyone arrived at the hall just in time for our performance because we were the first group up. There was a small amount of kids in our group. We sang two songs and they were Whakarongo Ake Au and Purerehua. After all of the groups performed it was shared kai. I had some fruit, cake and biscuits. Everyone went back home after that. - Harley

GYMNASTICS COMPETITION

The Year 4 and Y5/6 competitive boys gymnastics teams enjoyed their day at Gymnastics Nelson last Friday. Year 5/6 boys came 3rd in the teams event. Robbie came 3rd overall. They have been practising for the past term and had a great time. Well done to all who took part. - Erin Day, Coach
