Wheelchair Wheelchair Wheelchair Rugby at Rugby at Rugby at
HomebushHomebushHomebush
Late last term, a group of our students who use a wheelchair travelled to Homebush to watch the wheelchair rugby. Some of their parents joined the group and everyone had an amazing day. They left early from school and had front row seats when they arrived. They couldn’t believe the strength and speed of the players. Our young men who went down could not stop smiling when they returned tired, but very excited about their day, and were still making noise with their souvenir ‘clappers’ at school the next day. Many thanks to the parents who came along to help and to Wheeling & Able and their volunteer bus driver for making the day possible. There are so many opportunities that our students have because of the support of Wheeling & Able. If your child has a physical disability and you are not a member of Wheeling & Able, please let us know and we will send home an application form. They are a wonderful organisation of volunteers who work to raise funds to support young people with a physical disability in many ways. They are always looking for volunteer drivers as well, if you know someone who could help in this way. Included in this week’s newsletter is an information leaflet about a new service for families who have a patient with a disability in Gosford Hospital. Among other services, they can offer respite time so that you can have a break while they care for your child with a disability. We have application forms for the service here at school. Regards, Gwenda Williamson
