Why Are We Doing This? • Energy efficiency helps our customers become

more efficient, competitive and productive • Provides the lowest cost alternative to new

generation – Delays new generation and rate/environmental impacts

• Creates sustainable “green” jobs in Ohio • PUCO mandates energy efficiency activity through

Senate Bill 221 – But AEP Ohio leads way

Targeting of Customers

• New customers or customers that could have participated

• Customers in low participating geographic areas

• Driving participation in all programs • Staying connected with network of

existing customers

Projects That Do Not Qualify • Fuel switching (e.g., electric to gas or gas to electric) • Changes in operational and/or maintenance practices or

simple control modifications not involving capital costs. • Removal or termination of existing processes, facilities and/or

operations • On-site electricity generation • Projects that involve only peak-shifting without kWh savings • Renewables • Projects required by state or federal law, building or other

codes, or projects that are standard industry practice • Projects easily reverted/removed • Projects installed entirely for reasons other than improving

energy efficiency

Other Conditions To Be Determined By AEP Ohio

• AEP Ohio non-metered pole lights don’t qualify

• AEP Ohio account name is different from the tenant

• Less than 12 months of bills • Low usage

Program Rules • Program year: Mid-November to End of October • Incentive funds are limited

– Recommend Pre-Application!

• Measures must be installed for 5 years or the life of the measure, whichever is less

• Payback must be 7 years or less • Incentives

– Prescriptive not exceed 50% of total project cost – Custom incentives capped at 50% of incremental costs – See application for specific measure/customer incentive caps and

limitations
