MESSAGE FROM THE PRODUCER

Mandy Maloney

Welcome to Rome Little Theater! You are infor something special tonight as you watchthis cast and production team performGrease. This has been such a fulfilling pro-duction to take part in. I've done this many, many times before, but I'm always humbledand amazed at what happens when you bringpeople of intense passion and incredible talenttogether to create this art. Watching this showtake form hasn't disappointed. David Clonts, afabulously talented and creative mind, hastaken his vision for this show and brought it tolife. Thank you for letting me tag along. Work-ing with you is always a pleasure. Tina Brin-son, I've said this before, but you are theQueen of Everything: a title I can only aspireto. Thank you for your endless support andoptimism. Suzanne Clonts, you are my friendand role model. Everything you do is withgrace. To this amazing cast- I am honored tohave worked with you. I have learned fromeach of you, and watching you work both indi-vidually as well as a team inspires me to bebetter. Just so you know- I won't rest till we'veworked together again. My only regret withthis show is not being onstage with you!Thank you for your commitment to the showand each other. It has not gone unnoticed. There are countless other folks to thank, and Iknow I will forget someone. The bottom line is,like every other production, there have beenhours and hours of love and energy that havegone into this production, and there is no wayany one of us could have done it without everyminute of help we've had. The greatest giftyou can ever receive is when someone givesof their talents, time and heart. That's what Ihave been given by being able to take part inthis production. It's what we hope you, our au-dience, receives tonight. We do this for you.We hope you are surprised, challenged andentertained. Thank you for sharing an eveningwith us. And if you want to sing along, wewon't stop you!

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Hello everyone, and thank you for com-ing to the Historic DeSoto Theatre tosee Rome Little Theatre's production ofGrease. Since it's debut in Chicago in1971, and then on to Broadway in1972, Grease the Musical has left ussinging our way out of theaters allacross America. Today, for you, I hopewe do the same. The message ofGrease remains just as relevant todayas it was in Jim Jacobs' and WarrenCasey's 1959 Rydell High. I hope youfind yourself somewhere in the castand walk the halls of Rydell with us to-night. All the issues that confronted theRingtails of Rydell in1959, still demandthe attention of our youth today. Thisshow brings theatre buffs and movielovers alike to the the box office withgreat expectations. We hope to exceedthose expectations while surprising youalong the way. This has been a verychallenging show to produce. Coordi-nating rehearsal time among the actorshas been especially challenging. Fortu-nately, we got started early, buildingprops and casting, to make up for thelimited days we had in the theatre toprepare. There are a few performancesthat I think you will especially enjoy, butI'll let you decide which are your favor-

ites. It has been great getting to knowthese very talented young people.Great friendships have been forged, and a lot of fun had, "Shake-in at theHigh School Hop." I would also like to say a specialthank you to my production staff forhandling the dozens of behind thescene tasks that have made this pro-duction come together. Mandy Malo-ney, producer and costume design, thanks for the countless emails tryingto manage the challenging schedule. Thanks to Tina, who arranged numer-ous promotional opportunities for us toget out into the community and performand promote our show. To Pam Shoe-maker who can make anyone look likea star with her makeup; to Tracy Page, our photographer, who is a true artist inevery way; to Brendon Earp and TimNaddy, who in addition to rehearsing 4days a week, were there for almost ev-ery set-build session. And to one of mybest friends in the world, Matt Shoe-maker, thanks for helping to build themother of all props, (so far)... "GreaseLightnin!" Enjoy the Show!

David Clonts

Grease is the 1950's rock 'n' roll musical surrounding Rydell High's spirited class of1959; gum chewing, hub cap stealing, hot rod loving boys and their wise crackinggirls in bobby socks and pedal pushers. While hip Danny Zuko and wholesome San-dy Dumbrowski resolve the problems of their mutual attraction, the gang sings anddances its way through such nostalgic scenes as the pajama party, the prom, theburger palace and drive in movie. Grease's eight year run made Broadway historyand it's long running revival put it among today's most popular musicals.
