Day 1: Departure from the USA Day 2: Frankfurt-Rhine River Cruise- Heidelberg Upon arrival in Frankfurt, meet your CHA Tour Director at the airport. First on today’s agenda is a relaxing cruise along the Rhine River past fairytale castles and the famed Lorelei. Travel to Heidelberg to visit its renowned Medieval Castle, one of Europe’s most impressive ruins, before checking into your Heidelberg area hotel. Day 3: Heidelberg-Black Forest-Rhine Falls-Lucerne Drive through the fabled Black Forest where you will learn about the area’s tra- ditional cuckoo clocks during a visit to the Black Forest Clock Center. Stop at Schaffhausen for dra- matic views of the Rhine Falls. Then cross the border into Switzerland as you head to the lakeside Lucerne area for the evening. Day 4: Lucerne-(Alpine Peak) Sightseeing of Lucerne features its medieval ramparts, the 14th-century Kapellbruecke, and the beloved Lion Monument. On your free time this after- noon, why not consider an exciting optional Alpine peak excursion? Day 5: Lucerne-Liechtenstein- Neuschwanstein-Innsbruck Pass through Vaduz, the capital of the tiny principality of Liechtenstein, on your way to the Bavarian countryside. Today’s highlight is a visit to magi- cal Neuschwanstein Castle, built by King Ludwig II high on a mountain peak, before crossing the border into Austria. Proceed to Innsbruck, the capital of the country’s Tyrol region. Day 6: Innsbruck-Salzburg-Munich This morning’s sightseeing of Innsbruck features views of Maria Theresa’s Hofburg Palace and the Hapsburgs’ dazzling “Golden Roof.” Journey to Salzburg, the “Sound of Music” city. Sightseeing features views of Mozart’s birthplace, a walk through Residenz Square, and the courtyard of St. Peter’s Monastery. Visit the Cathedral with its pale marble facade on Domplatz, and take the funicular to tour the Grounds of Hohensalzburg Fortress for views of the Salzach Valley. Later, drive to Munich where you join your Tour Director on an Evening Walking Tour. Day 7: Munich-(Bavarian Evening) This morning’s guided sightseeing tour of Bavaria’s capital reveals double-domed Frauenkirche, Leopoldstrasse, and the Olympic Stadium.
