APOLLO
Apollo is the god of light. There
is a roman story that says every
morning Apollo gets into his
chariot with four horses pulling
him and the sun across the sky
bringing light to the day.
Apollo is a member of Dii
Consentes. This is a group of
twelve gods that the Romans
held higher than any other gods.
Apollo is also thought of to be a
healing and purifying god. This
is actually how he came to be
known in Rome.
Apollo thought to be the one
who taught man medicine and is
considered the god of medicine.

ROMAN MYTHOLOGYBY: ADAM LEGG
Beliefs
The Romans were polytheistic. They not
only believed in divine gods, but demigods.
Demigods are gods that are half human
and half god. The Romans built each god
a temple filled with treasures. Priests were
the only people allowed in temples and
took part in religious ceremonies in them.
JUPITER
Jupiter is the leader of all the Roman gods. He is
the god of the sky, lightning, and thunder. Jupiter
is considered the patron god of Rome. Jupiter
can be compared to the Greek god Zeus. Like
Zeus it was believed that Jupiter would throw
lightning bolts at humans when he was angry. It
is also believed that Jupiter overthrew is father
Saturn in order to become king of the gods.
JUNO
Juno is the queen of the gods. She is not only
Jupiter’s wife, but also his sister. She is the god
of childbirth and women. It is said that Juno is
often angry because of Jupiter’s many affairs.
Juno is considered the protector of the state of
Rome and the guardian of Rome’s finances.
Interestingly enough, the month June is named
after her.
CERES
Ceres is the goddess of agriculture, civilization,
law, and the love a mother gives to her child.
The Romans liked Ceres because she provided
them with the food they needed. Being the
goddess of agriculture Ceres is thought to have
taught the humans how to grow food. Ceres is
the only god that is involved daily with the people;
unlike other some gods who occasionally
dropped by.

DIANA
Diana is the goddess of the moon and hunting.
She is also thought to be the goddess of nature,
protector of the weak, and has been known to
grant an easy childbirth to her favorites. Diana is
usually seen with a bow and arrow and is known
for her hunting skills and athletic ability. Women
frequently prayed to Diana in hope she would
watch over them and keep them safe.
