Baby Bottles Save Babies.…Baby bottles with monetary donations for The Bridge to Life will still be accepted this weekend by giving dropping them off in the basket at the back of the church, with one of the ushers or in the sacristy. Please don’t forget that you can support pro-life organi-zations throughout the year by dropping your pocket change in the St Josaphat Right to Life Committee’s “Pennies For Life Box” located in the vestibule of the church. It would be great it we could get back most, if not all, of the 150 Bottles that were taken. Thank you.

Our parish goal for the 2015 Annual Catholic Appeal is $23,540. This goal is based on the most current financials of our parish that were submit-ted to the Diocese. Knowing the goodness of our parishioners, when they see the need, they will re-spond. Again this year, the Bishop has agreed to gift back all monies collected over goal to the par-ish. So far 58 parishioners have donated $12,660. We have just passed the half way point to our goal. Please make every effort to help Saint Josaphat’s reach our goal again this year.

Living Stewardship Now-The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are as follows: wisdom, understanding, counsel (meaning right judgment), fortitude (meaning courage), knowledge, piety (meaning reverence), fear of the Lord (meaning wonder and awe in God’s presence). Without these we cannot be true followers of Christ. Pray for an increase of whichever you need most. Copyright © 2011, World Library Publications.

GLAD TIDINGS Pentecost marks the end of the Easter season. This is the one feast of the Church's year when we focus on the third person of the Trinity, God the Holy Spirit. This is a good day to recall what Je-sus said about himself, quoting the prophet Isaiah (61:1-2):

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me;

He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners,

To announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God.

The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus at his bap-tism. This same Spirit, who also came upon the disciples at Pentecost, the birthday of the church, is the Spirit who hovered over the waters of our baptism, as we were anointed with the holy oil of salvation. The Spirit came upon us with renewed strength in confirmation, as we were anointed as followers of Christ. It is the Holy Spirit who calls us anew to the challenges of each day, inspiring and strengthening us to live as disciples and friends of Jesus. That does not mean the path is made easy, or that we will always be understood, accepted, and successful. It does mean that if we trust the Spirit and its promptings deep within us, we will always speak and act with faith and truth. It is not up to us to worry about whether people receive what we offer. Our words or deeds may be just one small seed sown in someone's soul; our job is to sow it and to entrust to the Holy Spirit the nurturing and nourishing of that seed. The Spirit of the Lord God is upon us, so share the glad tidings! Copyright © 2011, World Library Publications. All rights reserved.
