En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús dice: "No temas a los que solo pueden matar el cuerpo, pero no el alma ...". También dice: "Lo que te digo en la oscuridad, repítelo a la luz del día".

Con estas dos frases, Jesús nos da un desafío. Él está diciendo que si queremos ser cristia-nos, debemos proclamar su mensaje sin temor. Para Jesús, esto es lo que significa la palabra cris-tiano.

En cierto modo, lo que Cristo está haciendo en este evangelio es preparar a sus discípulos para proclamar el evangelio. Jesús murió, resucitó de entre los muertos y ascendió al cielo. Ahora es la responsabilidad de sus discípulos continuar su trabajo. Dejó muy claro que todos sus segui-dores (¡incluidos nosotros!) No deberían temer a otros en su trabajo de predicar el evangelio.

¿Qué significan estas palabras de Jesús para nosotros hoy? ¿Proclamamos las buenas nue-vas, el mensaje de Jesús en nuestras vidas? ¿En nuestra casa? En nuestro trabajo? En nuestro ba-rrio? Que siempre seamos buenos proclamadores de las buenas nuevas en nuestra comunidad y en nuestras familias.

¡Feliz Día del Padre a todos los papás! ¿No es cierto que la mayoría de los niños están in-herentemente unidos a sus madres? Cada vez que quieren ser mimados, subconscientemente co-rren hacia sus madres. Al mismo tiempo, ¿no se olvidan a menudo de correr hacia su padre y ba-ñarlo con infinitos besos y amor? El Día del Padre es un excelente momento para mostrar a todos los padres que son realmente especiales. En este día, cuando honramos y recordamos a todos nuestros padres, rogamos que continúen siendo maridos amorosos y buenos modelos a seguir para sus hijos.

Puede que no te des cuenta, pero el Día del Padre es una fiesta bastante reciente. El con-cepto de crear un día para que los niños honren a sus padres comenzó en Spokane, Washington, en 1909. Una mujer llamada Sonora Smart Dodd pensó en la idea mientras escuchaba un sermón del Día de la Madre. Después de haber sido criada por su padre, Henry Jackson Smart, después de la muerte de su madre, Sonora quería que su padre supiera lo especial que era para ella. Del Despacho de Padre Mike

In today's Gospel Jesus says: "Do not fear those who can only kill the body, but not the soul ...". He also says: "What I say to you in the dark, repeat it in the light of day."

With these two phrases, Jesus gives us a challenge. He is saying that if we want to be Christians, we must proclaim his message without fear. For Jesus, this is what the word Chris-tian means.

In a way, what Christ is doing in this gospel is preparing his disciples to proclaim the gospel. Jesus died, rose from the dead and ascended to heaven. Now it is the responsibility of his disciples to continue his work. He made it very clear that all of his followers (including us!) should not fear others in their work of preaching the gospel.

What do these words of Jesus mean to us today? Do we proclaim the good news, the message of Jesus in our lives? In our home? In our work? In our neighborhood? May we always be good proclaimers of the good news in our community and in our families.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Isn't it true that most children are inher-ently attached to their mothers? Whenever they want to be pampered, they subconsciously run to their mothers. At the same time, don't they often forget to run to their dad and shower him with endless kisses and love? Father’s Day is an excellent time to show all dads they are indeed special. On this day, when we honor and remember all our fathers, we pray they may continue to be loving husbands and good role models for their children.

You may not realize it, but Father’s Day is a fairly recent holiday. The concept of creat-ing a day for children to honor their fathers began in Spokane, Washington, in 1909. A wom-an by the name of Sonora Smart Dodd thought of the idea while listening to a Mother’s Day sermon. Having been raised by her father, Henry Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sono-ra wanted her father to know how special he was to her. It was her father who made all the pa-rental sacrifices and was, in the eyes of his daughter, a courageous, selfless, and loving man. Sonora’s father was born in June, so she chose to hold the first Father’s Day celebration in Spokane, Washington on the 19th of June, 1910. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge pro-claimed the third Sunday in June as Father’s Day. However, it was not until 1972 that Presi-dent Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father’s Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. Father’s Day was born as a token of love and gratitude from a daughter for her beloved father. So, in the spirit of Sonora Smart Dodd, let’s make this day special for all fathers.

As we get closer to the day that we will gradually be able to open up the church to lim-ited public services and masses I would like to invite all to read the important information we have on our parish website that will help you understand the procedures that will have to be followed when we open up. The announcements on the website are in both English and Span-ish. We will be limited in the number of people we can have in the church and some of the regular ways of celebrating mass will change at least temporarily. It is important that all fol-low the procedures when we reopen and follow the directions of the ushers. Entrance to the church will be on a first come-first serve basis so I would advise all to come early. The over-flow will have to go to the gym where there will be a second mass. I thank you for your pa-tience in this matter.

New Regulations

When you come back to church, you will see that things will be quite different. We still are under restrictions as to what can be done because of the coronavirus. Only 25% of the capacity of the church can be used. We still need to make sure that we provide the safest environment in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic which still affects us. For this reason the following General Principles will be followed.

The obligation to attend Sunday Mass will continue to be suspended until fur-ther notice.

Those who are at higher risk for COVD-19 (i.e. those who are older than 65 or who have underlying health conditions) are urged not to come to church for Mass.

For the weekend masses, please come early since only a limited number of peo-ple will be able to attend the larger masses (6pm Saturday and 11am Sunday) and everyone has to be seated by the ushers.

All those who come to mass over the age of 2 must wear facemasks in public and when attending church during the entire mass. The masks can be removed or lowered when receiving communion.

Entrance to the Church will only be through the chapel door located on Valen-tine Ave between the Rectory and School building. Please practice social dis-tancing while waiting on line to enter the church.

All those entering the church must sanitize their hands. All those present at mass must sit 6 feet or more away from others. Families

and those who live in the same apartment may sit together. Please follow the di-rections of the ushers who will take you to your seats.

The sacristy is off limits to all except those who will be fulfilling a liturgical function during the upcoming mass (priest, lector, musicians, Eucharistic Minis-ter, sacristan, altar servers.

Entrance to the rest rooms will be through the door in the chapel leading to the restrooms. Those on line must keep social distance which is marked on the floor. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or another adult with the parent’s permission.

Once the church is filled to 25% capacity, parishioners will be directed to the gym. There will be a second mass celebrated at 6pm (Spanish) on Saturday in the gym and at 11am Sunday (Spanish) in the gym. At other times, mass will be livestreamed from the church and communion distributed to those in the gym.

A priest will be available from 5 – 5:30pm on Saturday in the back entranceway of the church near Ryer Ave for confessions. Additional confessions times can be arranged with a priest or will be announced. The confessionals will not be used at this time.

In addition to these, you will notice some changes in the way masses are celebrat-

ed. These temporary changes for the protection of all include:

There will be no offertory procession There will be no sign of peace during the mass. All priests, lectors, sacristans and Eucharistic ministers will sanitize their hands

before and after mass and distributing communion. The precious blood will not be distributed during communion. All ministers of Holy Communion will wear masks during the time of distribu-

tion. Given the frequency of direct contact with saliva in the distribution of Holy

Communion on the tongue, it is strongly recommended that every consideration should be made by each individual to receive the host reverently in open hands for the protection of all. Those who choose to receive on the tongue are not to come down the center aisle. They are invited to get on line in front of the Holy Family statue where a Eucharistic Minister will distribute communion and their hands can be sanitized after each person receives.

Those distributing communion will not be placing their hands on the heads of children or adults who are not receiving communion in the form of a “blessing” during the distribution of communion. We ask that all those who are not receiv-ing communion to make an act of spiritual communion in their places.

All music books and missals have been removed from the church. Music will be provided by musicians at each mass.

Nuevas Regulaciones

Cuando vuelvas a la iglesia, verás que las cosas serán bastante diferentes. Todavía esta-mos bajo restricciones en cuanto a lo que se puede hacer debido al coronavirus. Solo se puede usar el 25% de la capacidad de la iglesia. Todavía tenemos que asegurarnos de proporcionar el ambiente más seguro en medio de la pandemia de coronavirus que aún nos afecta. Habrá una segunda misa celebrada a las 6pm (español) el sábado en el gimnasio y a las 11 am el domingo (español) en el gimnasio. En otras ocasiones, la misa se transmitirá en vivo desde la iglesia y la comunión se distribuirá a los que es-tán en el gimnasio.

Un sacerdote estará disponible de 5 a 5:30 pm el sábado en la entrada trasera de la

iglesia cerca de Ryer Ave para confesarse. Se pueden organizar tiempos de confesio-

nes adicionales con un sacerdote o se anunciarán. Los confesionarios no serán utili-

zados en este momento.

Además de estos, notará algunos cambios en la forma en que se celebran las misas. Estos cambios temporales para la protección de todos incluyen:

No habrá procesión de ofertorio.

No habrá señales de paz durante la misa.

Todos los sacerdotes, lectores, sacristanes y ministros eucarísticos desinfectarán sus manos antes y después de la misa y distribuirán la comunión.

La sangre preciosa no se distribuirá durante la comunión.

Todos los ministros de la Sagrada Comunión usarán máscaras durante el tiempo de distribución.

Dada la frecuencia del contacto directo con la saliva en la distribución de la Sa-grada Comunión en la lengua, se recomienda encarecidamente que cada indivi-duo haga todo lo posible para recibir al santísimo sacramento con reverencia en las manos abiertas para la protección de todos. Aquellos que eligen recibir en la lengua no deben bajar por el pasillo central. Están invitados a ponerse en línea frente a la estatua de la Sagrada Familia, donde un Ministro Eucarístico distri-buirá la comunión y sus manos podrán ser desinfectadas después de que cada persona reciba.

Los que distribuyen la comunión no pondrán sus manos sobre las cabezas de ni-ños o adultos que no reciben la comunión en forma de "bendición" durante la distribución de la comunión. Pedimos que todos aquellos que no están recibien-do la comunión hagan un acto de comunión espiritual en sus lugares.

Todos los libros de música y misales han sido retirados de la iglesia. La música

será provista por músicos en cada misa.
