JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title:ENGINEERING LABORATORY TECHNICIANChemical and Electrical Engineering Laboratories

Job Objective/s:

To oversee laboratory room operations, maintain a clean, organized and safe laboratory environment, enforce laboratory rules, and provide support and assistance to the Department Chair and Faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Conducts pre-operational check-up of Chemical and Electrical Engineering laboratory equipment by inspection and testing, and checks the efficiency of laboratory equipment and laboratory materials. Refers problems encountered to the course/subject faculty and the Department Chair for immediate action.

2. Conducts inventory of tools, instruments and equipment after each laboratory activity to ensure that these materials are in good condition upon return, and ready for the use of the next class.

3. Performs consistent inspection of running conditions and operational capabilities of all equipment and carry out monitoring procedures to ensure effective and reliable performance of the equipment, as well as dependable and accurate results during laboratory activities and exercises. Initiates repairs and restorations if needed.

4. Provide assistance to students and teachers using laboratory services, in the context of laboratory class activities, research, and individual work.

5. Conducts an inventory of all laboratory equipment and supplies at the beginning and end of each school term. Reconciles final inventory of equipment and supplies at the end of each school term to inventory levels at the beginning of the term. Submits inventories of materials as well as laboratory supplies and craft requisition of materials and equipment, in consultation with faculty and the Department Chair.

6. Maintains good housekeeping and orderliness within the area.

7. Is on duty for at least six (6) hours per regular work day plus such other additional hours, if needed, during actual laboratory exercises (from CMO 25 s. 2005, Article III, Section 4.2.1.3.2)

Performs other functions as may be deemed necessary from time to time. May perform functions outside of laboratory responsibilities after the minimum of 6 hours of work, with the written consent of the Department Chairs.

Qualifications: Associate degree in Chemical, Electrical, Electronics and/or Mechanical Engineering Technology or its equivalent

Relationship Responsibilities: Reports to both the Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Department Chairs
