ROLES AND FUNCTIONS

• For all activities people are required to take different roles.

• A ‘role’ is the part a person plays in the activity E.g. Player Referee Coach

Each role has a different “Function”, I.e. what they do/their purpose.

Role: Defender in Hockey Function: To stop goals from being scored. Role: Setter in Volleyball Function: To set up the attack for their team.

Function: To support the performer during

practice. I.e. holding the performers

hips during a headstand to help stop

them from falling over.

Helper

- Supporting is not the only way to help someone.- You can help them by other methods; * Feeding the ball/shuttle to partner to help

them practice a skill. * Using a checklist to note down points about their performance so the performer can find out what they need to do in order to improve. * Spotter at a trampoline
