Once unlocked, the Factory mingame in Rogue Galaxy is easily the most confusingpart about Rogue Galaxy. Unlike the other minigames/features, there is no realautomatic tutorial, and the one the game does have isn't that great. Because ofthis, many people dismiss it before giving it a chance. Once you get the hang of it, it's a welcome distraction from the long dungeon crawls of which Rogue Galaxy has many.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------I. Step-by-Step Instructions----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First of all, to unlock the ability to use the Factory, you must complete theStarship Factory on Zerard, and beat the boss (Jupis). The Factory isaccessible through the main menu. You use a remote uplink to access it, so you

Page 2: Rogue Galaxy - Factory

do not need to keep going back to Zerard whenever you want to use it.

STEP ONE--------

Find an NPC standing around (usually near shops, but not always) with an orangeorb beside their name. When you talk to them, they will tell you about an ideathey have for a certain type of item or weapon. They will also give you a listof raw materials needed to make it. This list is nearly always incomplete, butmore on that later. After talking to them, you will automatically obtainblueprints to manufacture that item.

STEP TWO--------

Open the main menu, and select Factory. You will come to the factory, with a menu on the left side of the screen. Select "Blueprints", and pick which itemyou wish to manufacture. As mentioned before, most of the time it will be incomplete, as one or more of the materials listed will be a vague clue, and a question mark. This does not matter, you can still make the item.

STEP THREE----------

A template will be automatically laid out on the factory floor. Now, in theFactory menu, select "Set Materials". Items you can use as raw materials aredivided into 5 catagories, Metal, Mecha, Circuit, Gem, and Alchemy. Go througheach catagory, and find the materials listed at the top of the window. Select them in the right amount, and place them onto a Source Table, which will be atthe top of the screen. If a material is listed as #1, make sure it is on the source table furthest to the left, and so on. If one of the materials is listedas a question mark, you can use the clue the NPC gave you to guess what goes there. The clue is repeated on the blueprint, but it is not repeated in the Materials window.

STEP FOUR---------

Here's the sneaky part. It looks like it's ready to run, but every materialmust be processed before it can be combined to for a new item. The way in whichmaterials must be processed depends on the class. There are certain processingmachines that must be placed so that the raw material passes through it:

Metal - Smelter, Form Presser, and Fan pointed at the tube after Form PressingMecha - DisassemblerCircuit - WasherGem - GrinderAlchemy - Athanor

To place them, select "Place" in the Factory menu. Move the tubes so that eachmachine becomes a part of the manufacturing line BEFORE the assembler.

STEP FIVE---------

Page 3: Rogue Galaxy - Factory

You must also make sure each processed material reaches the assembler at the same time. Do this by adding or removing tubes so that a material that doesn'ttake long to process has to follow a longer route. Every processing machine take a certain amount of time to do its function, so you must add that time tothe length of tubes to find the total time. You can get more tube pieces fromthe "Place" menu.

STEP SIX--------

Here is the fun part. On the Factory menu, go back to "Place", and select thepower cord. Every source table, processing machine, assembler, and the finaltable must be connected to a power supply. Do this by connecting the outlets against the wall to those machines that require power. The tubes do not requireto be directly connected. It's like making roads in SimCity. Make sure your cord ends pointing directly at the power socket on the machine, not pointing away.

STEP SEVEN----------

Select "Run" from the Factory menu, and watch your new item being made!

Still don't get it? Here is a video of the entire process:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------II. Troubleshooting-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some types of errors you may encounter.

Improperly Processed Materials------------------------------

This means you did not use the correct processing machine to process the rawmaterial, or you quite simply did not process them at all. Check the types ofmaterials you are using, and make sure you are processing them correctly.

Incorrect Type of Material--------------------------

This typically occurs when you were guessing what type of material a question

Page 4: Rogue Galaxy - Factory

mark meant. You were wrong, try again.

Materials Did Not Reach Assembler on Time-----------------------------------------

You must have added up the times wrong. Try again. If a material is arriving too soon, make its path longer by adding more tubes.

If you are guessing at what a question mark stands for, you don't need to set up the entire assembly line to find out if you were right. Simply place the materials on the source tables, and select run. Even without power orprocessing machines, the "incorrect material" error trumps all others, lettingyou know immediately.

Power cords can run underneath straight tubes.

I do not recommend straying from the basic outline the Blueprint gives you. Certain types of items will not mix in an Assembler, even if they are processedcorrectly. For instance, for items that require three types of materials, sometimes they will all be combined in an Assembler III, but sometimes two ofthe materials will be combined in an Assembler II, then that product will be combined with the third in another Assembler II. This is to make sure that the types of materials that cannot mix normally are not mixed directly.
