Mission Overview

3

RocketSat VII shall design an attitude

determination system for future

RocketSat-C missions

Background: RocketSat VI • Mission required angle of attack of rocket to properly process

science data• Attitude determination system was not successful

• Algorithm chosen required more precise sensors to determine its position in flight

Expected Results

• Determine the attitude of the rocket during the ascending portion of flight– Need magnetometer data and at least

one picture of the sun

• Have a system that can be easily recreated for future RocketSat projects to use

Lessons Learned

• Don’t overcomplicate your design, but sometime complex systems are needed to meet the requirements

• Always allow more time to complete certain tasks than you believe

• Follow the schedule as much as possible
