Dear Families,

Our Year 3 and 5 students have successfully finished our first year in completing the NAPLAN assessment online. Apart from a hiccup on the first day with the writing assessment, where there were a few connection issues, it went fairly smoothly. We decided not to complete the re-sit of the writing with Year 5 students as they were provided an additional 15 minutes on the day to offset any lost time with the internet dropping out. We are hoping to have the results back a little earlier than the end of September as the results are already submitted by completing online.

We celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime last Wednesday. This year’s book was ‘Alpacas with Maracas’ and our whole school joined together to share the reading, along with many schools around Australia. Our very talented Ms Idle, Mrs Weeks, Miss Cull, Mrs McNab, Ms Byrne and Mr Everett did a wonderful performance of the story for our children. Macca impressed with his flossing!

Congratulations to Room 3 and 4 on their assembly last Friday. The students persuaded us on why we all need an iguana as a pet, and some interesting facts about them! It was a fantastic item. Thank to Mrs Buchanan and Mrs Ebersohn!

Good luck to our students participating in the Year 4-6 Interschool Carnival on Friday. We know they will represent our school admirably! Thanks to Mr McCurrach for his organisation of the team.

Attendance

Under the law, you are responsible for making sure your child goes to school on ALL school days. You must not keep your child away from school for minor reasons. The School Education Act (1999), requires parents to send their children to school unless:

they are too unwell

they have an infectious disease

the principal is provided with a genuine and acceptable reason. You must let the school know within three days of returning from an absence why your child has not attended. Every day counts, so it is not okay to be away. Please support us to support your child’s learning by ensuring they attend every day.

Voluntary Contributions

Thank you to the families who have already paid their voluntary contribution for this year. Fees are $60 per child or $150 for three or more children. This assists us in providing additional materials and programs for students to maximise the quality of our teach-ing and learning programs. Contributions can be paid in full or instalments by EFTPOS at the school office, or by Direct Debit into our account:
