Official Newsletter of the Colorado Rockies Fantasy Camp
Wednesday, February 4, 2015 - Volume 18, Issue One
Congratulations on becoming a member of the Colorado Rockies 18th Annual Fantasy Camp!
Please sit back and enjoy your flight to beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona, while we take care of the rest, just like the big leaguers! Take a minute to check your itinerary to the left. Once we get to Scottsdale, we are going to head straight to Salt River Fields at Talking Stick where Fantasy Camp Director Jason Fleming and Fantasy Camp coaches will explain Camp a bit more thoroughly, covering clinics, training schedule, and upcoming games. You will need to bring any baseball related gear with you to Salt River Fields. All other luggage will be taken straight to our hotel and you will not have access to it until this evening. Therefore, make sure to have your things separated appropriately. From there we will get you right into the Rockies home clubhouse. Make sure to take it all in: not everyone gets this type of opportunity! You will be able to sit where some of your favorite Rockies sit every Spring. You will find your official Rockies gear ready and waiting. Make sure to dress in your MLB authentic white pinstripe pants, personalized purple jersey and your black cap to look tip-top for our annual Camp photo. Your photo will go up at Coors Field and be forever a part of our history. Following the photo will be your time to prove that the scouts were right in bringing you on; time for you to flash the leather and swing the big stick in clinics. You will be playing in your try-out game with all your fellow Fantasy Campers. Following the game, the draft will happen behind closed doors as you eat your dinner at the ballpark. Coaches will be discussing and looking for the best and brightest for their squad. But make sure not to let nerves get to you too much: your first game will follow immediately after the draft. It will be time for you to bond with your teammates and make your impression on your fellow Campers! Once you finish your first game with a big “W”, we will head back to the hotel for storytelling and dreaming of the great plays that will come in the days ahead. Best of luck this year and welcome to the Colorado Rockies 18
th Annual Fantasy Camp!

Former Major League reliever, George Frazier, is ready to be your Fantasy Camp Commissioner for 2015, crossing off another camp role on his bucket list. This year’s camp marks the 18th in Rockies history and fourth at Salt River Fields. Outside of Fantasy Camp, Frazier will begin his 18th season as the Rockies analyst for ROOT SPORTS. He is the only analyst to work Rockies television games on a regular basis since ROOT acquired the rights at the conclusion of the 1997 season. Frazier teams up with play-by-play man Drew Goodman for the 15th consecutive season in 2014. Prior to joining the Rockies, Frazier provided commentary for Home Sports Entertainment, the Baseball Network, ESPN and Minnesota Twins regional game telecasts. His broadcasting career started in 1988 when he called men’s and women’s basketball games for five seasons on Prime Sports Network. Over the years, Frazier has also worked Major League Baseball games for national telecasts on FOX Sports. Frazier pitched 10 seasons in the big leagues from 1978 to 1987. He started his career with St. Louis, then moved on to the New York Yankees, Cleveland, Chicago Cubs and finished his career with Minnesota. He went 35-43 in 415 games with a 4.20 ERA and 29 saves. He made trips to the World Series with both the Yankees (’81) and the Twins (’87), earning a world championship ring in his final year as a player. Frazier was born in Oklahoma City and earned all-state honors in baseball at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Mo., going 7-0 with a 0.14 ERA during his senior season. He then played collegiate baseball at the University of Oklahoma, leading the Sooners to the College World Series four times. In 1976, Milwaukee selected him in the ninth round of the draft. George lives in Tulsa, OK with his wife Kay. They have four children - Matthew, Brian, Parker and Georgia and three grandchildren.

This is what you have been training for these past
months! This afternoon is the 2015 Fantasy Camp
Skills Clinic as well as your Try-out Game. It’s
time to put all your hard work and talent to the test.
Clinic stations will be your opportunity to learn from
some of the Rockies’ best and use those newly
acquired skills to impress our Fantasy Camp
Coaches in the try-out game. You will get the
chance to work with your personal MLB coaches
and players on pitching, hitting and fielding.
Following the clinic is your time to shine! Our try-
out game will give you the chance to show off your
aptitude for the game. But don’t wait until the last
inning for that big play to impress the coaches.
Our one-hour time limit allows for the coaches to
see everyone just for a short period of time.
Coaches will be making rounds with their
clipboards looking for their next 2015 Fantasy
Camp MVP.
Make sure to take note of your tryout team
assignment enclosed in your flight packet and be
ready to play some ball!
