The 9th annual Phoenix & Fenders Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show was held Saturday, March 26, 2016, and once again, the Dixie Olds Club was well represented and several members brought home awards. Jerry Hicks, our member advocate for this event, brought home The 212 Award for his 1987 Cutlass Salon. Other winners were Bill Holtzclaw and Michael Patania who brought home top 10 awards for their 1967 F-85 442 W-30 Tribute car and 1967 Cutlass Convertible, respectively. Additionally, member Marvin Hayes received a Best In Show award with his 70 Cutlass Rallye 350. There were a total of 88 cars in the show, a record turn out for the event. Oldsmobiles had a significant presence – 11 were Dixie Olds Club members along with two additional Oldsmobiles who also made the scene. This is pretty impressive considering the area is known for their love of Chevys and Fords. (Hey! Did anybody get the names and numbers of the other two Olds owners? If so, send them to me and I’ll invite them to become members!) The members who attended would like to thank Jerry Hicks for inviting and encouraging us to attend the Sonoraville Pheonix and Fenders Car Show. We had awesome club attendance and even though we did not win the Club Participation Award, everyone had a great time. Many thanks to Jerry for bringing out his FOUR cars to help get the count up. This was a great show to attend and well worth the drive. Next year will be the 10th Anniversary and should hold much excitement and opportunity for our members. Thanks to members Joe Fotschky and Jerry Hicks for contributing pictures and information regarding this event.
