Colours.

The colours used are dark and usually involves black, red, yellow and white. These colours are used because they stand out, they are also used to represent the type of music. Loud and ‘aggressive’ its also represented as dark and ‘depressing’ music which is why the colour black is always used. The colour red is used because of the ‘angry’ tones.

Main image.

The main image is usually a band with dark clotheson and usually outside or in a dark inside room. ImagesFrom the waist up to fit in the whole group. Messy hairStyles and tattoos to shown the rebellion of teens Through music.

layout

The layout of the cover and contents page is usually messy to match to the type of music. It involves overlapping of colours. The masthead is bold and usually a ‘harsh’ type of text. Words such as ‘dark’ ‘hardcore’ and ‘metal’ are used which also match the type of music. Makeup involves lightening of the face but with darker eyes and lips.

Heavy metal

Heavy metal is loud rock music with a strong beat. An energetic and high amplified electronic rock music having a very hard beat. The genre of music is marked by distorted ‘power cords’ on electric guitar, loud bass and ‘dark’ lyrics.

Examples of the genre

BMTH open to a younger crowd for rock music, the way they look and what they talk about.

The way the band look represents their music, the clothes they usually wear is their own band.

They fit the stereotype of the music type with heavytattoos, piercings and messy hair styles. This picture of the main singer shows blood, this connects to the aggressive music and dark lyrics.

They looks this way to appeal to their fans who can see them as a type of music that don’t talk about being in love or making money unlike Pop and rap/hip-hop.

Examples of genreThis photo of the band ACDC has their name in bright red and one of them wearing devil horns. This type of music isn’t shown by the tattoos andpiercings.

Their look is through their moody facesand long messy hair. This band would suit an older fan base because of the way They look.

They dress with leather jackets and plain t-shirts or tank tops,they look like a dirty metal band.

The group Slipknot, look like ascary and dark group. Their facescovered and dressing in dark overalls. Long hair and hand tattoosLook distorted which matches the definition of heavy music.

The dark colours are always worn.

What do the audience want to see?

For rock music the readers want to relates to their ‘idols’ they also want to see the ‘darkness’ that is shown from the music. Bold colours and the group being close together is what they are looking to see. They will want to see them dark clothing the basic stereotype of heavy rock music.

What will I include?

In my magazine I will include the usage of dark colours of the band members clothing. Have the main image somewhere related to the music such as a warehouse or a dark room, not somewhere will full lighting. Colours such as red and blue for text. To win tickets to rock festivals or to meet and greet other artists of this music genre.
