Introduction to robotics

Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing.

Page 4: Robotics

Throughout history, robotics has been often seen to mimic human behavior, and often manage tasks

in a similar fashion. Many robots do jobs that are hazardous to people such as defusing bombs, mines and

exploring shipwrecks.

Usefulness

Jobs which are dangerous for man. Cleaning the main circulating pump housing in the nuclear power plant. Repetitive jobs that are boring, stressful or labor intensive for humans. Menial tasks that human don’t want to do. Also in mining fields robots are used.

Law of robotics

Asimov proposed three “Laws of Robotics”

Law 1: A robot may not injure a human being or through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm

Law 2: A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with a higher order law

Law 3: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with a higher order law

Robot is very useful for us but also sometimes it becomes very dangerous.

It is fully capable of harming human being because it doesn’t know the result of any action.
