Robinson High School encourages you to activate
your Home Access Codes (HAC) which provides a
link between home and school. Through HAC,
parents may view their student’s grades, as well as,
receive other pertinent information from each
teacher regarding their student’s progress. A feature
of HAC enables the parents and teachers to
communicate via email. Grades for each student
are posted weekly.

Parent Involvement Plan
2017-2018
Research has proven beyond a doubt that there is a positive correlation
between student success and parent involvement. Involving parents in the school learning community
has the potential to provide greater impact on student success than any other educational program or
reform. It is the intention of this plan to promote meaningful family participation in regard to student
learning with the expected result of increased student achievement.
Standard 1: Communicating
Robinson High School recognizes that communication between home and school should be regular,
two-way, and meaningful. We will conduct two parent/teacher conference meetings during the school
year to engage parents in meaningful dialogue about the progress of their children. Parents will be
provided information through e-mail, phone calls, newsletters and the school website.
Pursuant to Act 35 of 2004, each teacher in our school is required to have no less than two hours of
professional development designed to enhance understanding of effective parental involvement
strategies. These two hours may be included in the sixty hours required for each certified employee. We
also provide mentoring of new teachers with training on how to conduct parent teacher conferences to
provide meaningful communication with parents.

Standard 2: Parenting
Robinson High School promotes and supports parenting skills and programs. We have a Parent Center
open to families throughout the school year during the school day. The parenting center houses
resources regarding responsible parenting as well as academic resource materials that are beneficial to
families in need.
We also offer a PALS (People Assisting in Local Schools) in our school. This is a partnership program for
our parents that matches them with volunteer opportunities. These parents, grandparents, and guardians
give of their time and talents to assist the schools in educating students.
Standard 3: Student Learning
Student learning increases when parents are invited into the process by helping at home. Robinson High
School acknowledges the fact that parents play an integral role in assisting student learning. In order to
assist parents in student learning, we host informative parent meetings. These meetings are to inform
parents about what students will be learning, how they will be assessed and how parents can assist their
children in meeting educational objectives.
Robinson High School invites parents to parent teacher conferences to discuss not only academic and
behavioral progress but also course selection and career planning.
Standard 4: Volunteering
Parents are welcome in Robinson High School and their support and assistance are sought. We have
many volunteer programs throughout the school. The most active is the Parent Teacher Organizations
(PTO) for parent leadership and participation.

Standard 5: School Decision Making and Advocacy

and family. Information on policies concerning parent visitation, student pick up procedures, and
classroom visitation are provided to parents through the Student Handbook.
Parents are also encouraged to participate on various advisory councils and committees such as
Handbook Committees, ACSIP Committees, Equity Monitoring Committee, and the School Strategic
Planning Committee.
Standard 6: Collaborating with Community
Robinson High School recognizes that community resources are used to strengthen schools, families and
student learning. Committees consisting of parents, alumni, community members, teachers and
administrators provide input regarding school improvement.

Joe T. Robinson High School Parent Involvement Policy
Robinson High School understands the importance of involving parents and the community as a whole
in promoting higher student achievement and general good will between the school and those it serves.
Therefore, the school shall strive to develop and maintain the capacity for meaningful and productive
parental and community involvement that will result in partnerships that are mutually beneficial to the
school, students, parents, a n d the community. The school will provide the coordination, technical
assistance, and other support necessary to assist in the planning and implementing of effective parent
involvement activities to improve student academic achievement and school performance. To achieve
such ends, Robinson High School will work to:
1. Involve parents a n d the communi ty as partners in joint collaboration, development,
decision making, and review of the parent involvement policy, as well as programs associated with
parental involvement, and other long range goals of the school. Parent recommendations will be
solicited through parent comments, surveys, meetings, etc. The parent involvement policy, which
describes the means for carrying out the policy requirements, will be distributed to parents.
2. Develop policies and programs that will promote parental involvement while t a k i n g
into consideration cultural diversity.
3. Provide strategies encouraging parents o n how to be partners in their child’s education. Such
strategies might incorporate developmentally appropriate learning activities in the home (i.e. role
play, ADE website tools, nutritional meal planning, etc.).
4. Coordinate and integrate parent involvement programs and activities by scheduling regular parent
involvement meetings at which parents will be given a report on the state of the school and an
overview of what students will be learning, the forms of academic assessment used to measure
student progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet and how parents can
assist in making a difference in their child’s education.
5. Provide to parents a description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the school via
curriculum brochures emphasizing learning goals and objectives.
6. Ensure that information related to school and parent programs is sent to parents to the extent
practical in a language parents can understand.
7. Provide training at least annually for volunteers who assist in an instructional program.
8. Provide two hours o f professional development opportunities for teachers concerning parental
involvement.
9. Provide three hours of professional development opportunities for administrators concerning
parental involvement.
To ensure the continued improvement of the school’s parental/community involvement program,
Robinson High School will conduct an annual evaluation of the effectiveness of parental involvement
policies. The evaluation will examine the policy’s effect on promoting higher student achievement and
participation and whether there are barriers to greater participation by parents which may include those
who are economically disadvantaged or disabled, and parents who have limited English proficiency,
limited literacy, or any racial or ethnic minority background. The evaluation shall be accomplished
during an annual meeting of parents and other community members, certified and classified staff, and
members of the administration.

Parent Involvement Plan
2017-2018
Commitment to Parental Involvement
Joe T. Robinson High School recognizes that parents play a crucial role in the success of
their children in school and commits to encouraging parents to be full partners in the
education of their children. We want to work as partners with parents to help all
children excel.
The school has developed a parental involvement plan, as prescribed by Arkansas law
and the rules of the Arkansas Department of Education, but most importantly because
we want to create a caring partnership to support our students. This plan, which is
reviewed annually, reflects our school’s commitment to build parental involvement
through the following components: communicating about school programs and student
progress, recruiting family volunteers, involving families with learning activities at
home, including families in school-decision-making, assisting families with parenting
skills, and collaborating with the community to coordinate resources and services.
Ways for the Parent to become involved in the school and his/her child’s education.
A vital part of the parent involvement program includes parents becoming actively
involved. Involvement could be directly teaching and reviewing homework at home
or volunteering at RHS or RHS activities. Assisting teachers or office staff,
chaperoning field trips, and assisting academics with advisory or club activities are
a just a few of the volunteer opportunities available. Joining PTO also offers many
volunteer opportunities.
