Which Plants Should You Add to Your Garden?

The extended summers, humid atmosphere, and tons of sunshine can make it hard for many plants to not only survive, but thrive in the Texas heat. Check out some of the plants that are known for doing well in Texas landscapes.

“Henry Duelberg" Salvia As a plant that is easy to grow and has the added benefits of attracting hummingbirds and butterflies, you can’t go wrong with adding this plant to your garden. The dark, purplish-blue flowers also add a fun pop of color!

Lacy Oak If you’re looking for a shady tree to add to your home, try out the Lacy Oak. It grows 25-35 feet tall and wide, and it’s highly tolerant of heat, drought, and high pH soils.

“Lord Baltimore” Hibiscus The blooming period is from July until frost, and the 10-foot-wide scarlet flowers brighten up any garden. They love moist soil and do really well near backyard ponds. The plants die back to the ground in winter but regrow quickly each spring

Cape Plumbago If you need a plant that does well in light, sandy soils and is easy to take care of, Cape Plumbago is perfect for you. With blossoms the color of the sky, you’ll have beautiful flowers to enjoy from May until frost. They also attract butterflies and respond well to pruning. You can keep them in a neat mounded form or train them to climb a trellis.

We hope that you and your family remain happy and healthy. If there’s anything we can do for you or if you’d like to be in a new home before the holidays, I’d be happy to help. Buying and selling a home is a process, and I have been known to be the perfect partner to help you navigate the real estate market.
