ROBERTSON BURRAWANG
CRICKET CLUB
U14s & 1st Grade HDCA Premiers
Robertson Burrawang Cricket Club Inc. Established 1972
Correspondence; 62 Burrawang St, Robertson, NSW 2577
The first recorded cricket match was played in the area in the late 1800s, with both Robertson and Burrawang having separate teams. Early records indicate that between 1925-27, a young fellow
named Bradman, playing for Bowral, managed scores of just 2, 12 and 35 against Robertson!
The Robertson and Burrawang Clubs merged in 1972, with the First Grade side capturing the
premiership in their debut season.

FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Season 2015/16 was yet another successful one and we have continued to build as a club both on and off the field. Congratulations to our 1st Grade and U14s teams for winning their respective
Premierships.
We had some great times this summer, notably a highly successful Trivia Night being held in
February with a crowd of over 150 in attendance. Many thanks to Ben Quilty for hosting the night
and a massive thank you to all the individuals and businesses in the local community who made donations for prizes and/or attended the night.
We have also been invited to participate in a ‘Cancer Council NSW Healthy Sport Initiative’, a 3 year program designed to educate and help our Club in areas such as Sun Protection, Healthy
Eating and Club Management. We look forward to improving these areas as a club over the next
few seasons.
Thanks again to all our Sponsors who are all featured in this Yearbook. Please support them as
they enable us to keep our registration, ball fees and clothing costs amongst the lowest in the HDCA. Thanks also to Fiona Angel and Geoff Goodfellow for supplying action photos for this
Yearbook.
Finally, I would like to thank every individual involved in this club. From our Milo T20 Cricket
kids and their parents, Junior players, coaches, managers, scorers and parents, up to the Senior
teams and captains, it truly is a great atmosphere here and one that I hope continues for many years to come. Everyone works together, supports and appreciates each others successes (and
sometimes failures) on the field, and we have a Club like no other.
Enjoy the winter break, but bring on Season 2016/17!

Captain’s Comments;
Another great season for the 1st Grade boys. To go through the HDCA season undefeated
is a fantastic effort - maybe even the first time a senior team has done this in the club’s
history. A shame about our early exit in the Country Cup, but all in all a very good year, a
great team effort and most of all great blokes & mates.

Coach’s Comments;
The season started with 7 players on a Saturday morning against Bundanoon.
However we quickly picked up players each week and by the end of the season
had a full team. The boys improved their skills each week and learnt to play the
game in the correct spirit with an emphasis on fun.
Hopefully everyone enjoyed their cricket and will be back next season. The team
showed great improvement and with a large number of players being eligible for
the Under 12's again Robertson-Burrawang should have a competitive team for
the future.
Thanks must go to Tania Denney for scoring each week, Ben Quilty for umpiring
when I was unavailable and all other parents for their support throughout the
year.

Coaches’ Comments;
Congratulations to the Under 14’s on a highly successful season culminating in grand final
victory and securing back to back premierships.
It was a pleasure to coach and guide the boys this year and although not always smooth
sailing by the end of the season the whole team had formed a close bond and worked very
hard for each other till the very end.
We only had 11 players for the majority of the season. At times this was a bit tough espe-
cially fielding on those hot days, but the boys always dug deep.
Everyone in the team was willing to learn and take on board any tips they were instructed
with. The most pleasing aspect to come out of the season was the improvement in each
player.
Our grand final victory this year was a great team effort with every member contributing in
some way or another, with the boys displaying good sportsmanship and never say die atti-
tude as coaches this made us very proud indeed.
With what we have witnessed this year I know our clubs senior ranks will benefit in the
coming years with some very talented and gifted young cricketers coming through the
ranks.
I would like to thank the parents for all their support throughout the 2015/16 season. Put-
ting in countless hours getting the boys to and from training and games.
Special thanks to Rob and Sarah for scoring all year. Richard and Grant for helping out,
whether it be at training or helping out on game day with umpiring duties.

Captain’s Comments;
Another enjoyable year, unfortunately we left our worst game of the year until our semi-final. Minor Premiers and One Day Champions is still a great achievement but even though we failed to
make the Grand Final we should all still hold our heads up high. It was a privilege to captain such
a diverse group of guys, a few of which deserve a special mention:
Damian McMillan – I’ve never played with a harder working cricketer, such an inspiration.
Woodsy, Clewett and Timmy – enjoyed your company – very entertaining.
The under 14 players that played with us were terrific, often holding our batting together. Espe-
cially Riley Hurford, one of our stalwarts, playing almost every game. These players are the
future of our club and will be the base of our First Grade in years to come.
My last mention goes to the retiring Ian “Braddy” Bradburn – the most experienced played ever. It was great to have your input throughout the year. We should aspire to play the game the way
you do. Thanks again for another great year.

The T20 Smash was a good set up this year with the Grand Final being played on a stand

have a lot of fun and great times as well as playing to win. Both Grades are great support-
ers of each other through the normal season and we were well deserved winners in this

Captain’s Comments;
The 2015/16 season saw the third grade team going through a rebuilding phase
after a tough previous season. It was good to see some of the boys returning, as
well as some new faces coming into the team. I think everyone can agree that the
environment around the team was one of positivity, encouragement, commitment,
and most importantly having fun.
Having two new co-captains for the team saw some challenges thrown up
throughout the year, but all the boys always supported us fully. Considering the
new looking team wasn’t the strongest looking on paper we all played for each
other week in, week out which saw us having a quite successful season, making it
to the grand final of the T20 competition, as well as the semi finals of the regular
season.
Thanks for the season boys, We hope to improve as much next season as we did
this one!
Thanks team!

Robertson Burrawang Cricket Club entered a team in the Milo T20
Blast for U10s for the first time this year.
Games were held on Thursday afternoons at Eridge Park with modi-
fied runs, coloured clothing, plastic balls and with a T20 style and
atmosphere!
We were lucky enough to be asked to participate in the on-field enter-
tainment at the SCG during the Australia vs. West Indies Test match
in early January but unfortunately the wet weather meant the boys
weren't able to get onto the field. Instead they were treated to a behind
the scenes look at the Australian team training and an opportunity to
grab some photos and autographs.
We hope to have enough players to form a team again next summer so
our kids can continue to develop their cricket skills!
Milo T20 Blast
A crowd of over 150 people attended our Trivia Night held at the
Robertson Bowling Club on Saturday 27th February 2016.
MC and Quizmaster Ben Quilty did a fantastic job in running the night. The
winners were “Ocean’s 11” - a team made up of colourful (and brainy) Robertson
identities captained by Mark Bisby.
Thanks to all the individuals and businesses listed above for their support in helping
making the night as great as it was!
