REx Action Items
• Establish REx real-time forecasting task force– Model source data/centers– Trajectory generation– Forecasters (Chilean Weather Service)
• Field Catalog– Data questionnaire, satellite datasets, real-time MODIS
products, Stratus 07 catalog– Establish Working Group with representatives from
Operational Centers, JOSS. Goal is to populate the Field Catalog with model information, data, etc
• Outreach/Education– Windows to the Universe group– Graduate student field experience reports
• Land site coordination– Power sources, local coordination, site visit
Action Items
• Pre-VOCA: – Participants to receive the first set of figures prepared at U.
Washington/UCLA for preliminary round of discussions. Efforts to be made in order to incorporate data from Stratus Field Campaigns for model validation.
• Dataset for Upwelling Regions of the World:– Establish Working Group to develop a comprehensive dataset,
starting with VOCALS and continuing with the historical record going as far back as possible as much as possible. Peruvian nominations
available. • Establishment of Working Group on
Emissions: – Initial emphasis on smelters and power plants affecting SEP. Develop
emission dataset and emission scenarios for
• VOCALS modeling experiments (Jerome Fast?)
Action Items
• Request permission from Dudley Chelton to place his ocean eddy statistics in VOCALS web page.
• Establish group of scientists that will provide support for Operations in the field (Review of how objectives are been met, etc)
• VOCALS SWG nominations due at the VAMOS Panel meeting, March 25-28, Miami, Fl
