FROM THE COMANDER
First, I want to thank all of you for allowing me the
opportunity to serve as your Commander for the
upcoming year. I also want to thank all the many
volunteers that are making improvements to the Post
and to those who volunteer for kitchen duty.
Simon Davis has stepped up and is now our new Kitchen Manager. He
has provided some awesome lunch and evening specials, so come in and
check out the new and improved menu.
We are continually upgrading the outside seating area and will be
utilizing that space for outside activities and entertainment in the future.
Keep an eye on the calendar for those types of events. If you have a
suggestion please either call, email, or place it in the suggestion box. All
ideas are read and placed under consideration.
Art Loretti is our new webmaster. Check out the great job he has done
with Post 163’s web page at www.legionpost163.com I believe you will
enjoy the new look. Let him know what you think about the site.
Once again, thank you for allowing me to be your Commander for the
upcoming 2018-2019 year.
See you at upcoming events.
For God and Country
Robert Hughes
Commander

FROM THE 1st VICE COMANDER
I would like to report that as of June the 7th, the post is at 97.27% of renewed membership goal, GREAT JOB. I will continue to do my best and maybe for the year 2018-2019 we can get it to 100%. I would like to say that keeping your addresses and phone numbers current helps so that your renewal notices can be mailed to you and
remind you to pay your dues and not lose any continuous years. Being a member of the American Legion not only helps other Veterans with the Volunteer work that you do, it also gets you discounts on many things such as car rentals, air fares, and hotel stays, along with life insurance benefits through the American Legion. I'm sure you get periodic mailers during the course of the year offering these things. Don’t forget the American Legion magazine you get once a month also. Please don't forget our monthly meetings. They are the second Thursday of each month. There are a lot of
important subjects discussed at these meetings. Join us and see what is happening and maybe you can participate and help our post and the other Veterans programs that we support. Hope to see you at future meetings. For God and Country Jack W. Werts Sr. 1st Vice Commander American Legion Dept. of Florida Post 163

FROM THE A.L.R. DIRECTOR Congratulation to Bob Hughes for being named Rider of the Year for 2017-2018. This year the Riders instituted a point system based
on volunteering and being active in the Riders and Uncle Bob
amassed the most points.
Coming up in July is our Christmas in July Ride in conjunction with
the Bartenders Christmas in party. The ride will be to, of course, Fort
Christmas. The ride is open to anyone that wants to join us, cars welcome. If you have
never been there, it is a pretty interesting place, and we will be back to Post 163 in time
for the party.
Thanks
For God and Country
