Abstract The Company series (27 linear feet, 5 oversized boxes) contains material from the

2003 film directed by Robert Altman. The series largely consists of business and financial documents. The series also contains legal documents, scripts, production and post – production documents, music and scores, publicity and distribution materials, as well as articles and reviews, awards and festivals and photographs. The documents range in date from 2001-2004, with the majority of material from 2002.

The Dr. T and the Women series (37 linear feet, 2 oversized boxes) contains material from the 2000 film directed and co-produced by Robert Altman. The series includes legal and financial documents, material relating to production, publicity and awards and festivals, as well as scripts and photographs. The documents range in date from 1999-2000.

The A Prairie Home Companion series (16 linear feet, 2 oversized boxes) contains material from the 2006 film directed by Robert Altman. The series includes legal and financial documents, material relating to production, publicity and awards and festivals, as well as scripts and photographs. The documents range in date from 2003-2006, with the majority of the material from 2005.

The Resurrection Blues series (1 linear foot) consists of material from the Arthur Miller play directed by Robert Altman in 2006. The series includes correspondence, business and financial documents, scripts, production and publicity materials and photographs.

The Tanner on Tanner series (6 linear feet) consists of materials from the 2004 television series directed and co-produced by Robert Altman and written by Garry Trudeau. The series includes legal materials, business and financial records, scripts, production and post-production documents, publicity and distribution, articles and reviews, awards, events and festivals documents, and photographic materials.

The Trixie series (15.5 linear feet and one oversized box) contains material from the 2000 film written and directed by Alan Rudolph and produced by Robert Altman. The series largely consists of legal documents. The series also consists of correspondence, legal documents, business and financial records, scripts, production and post-production, articles and reviews and photographic material. The documents range in date from 1998-2001 with the majority of material from 1999.

Scope and Content Note

The Company series (27 linear feet and 5 oversized boxes) consists of material from the 2003 film directed by Robert Altman. The film was co-written by Neve Campbell and Barbara Turner, and co-produced by Neve Campbell and Joshua Astrachan. The film's actors include Neve Campbell, James Franco, and Malcolm McDowell along with dancers from the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago.

The legal sub-series contain numerous agreements including those for the actors, crew, musicians and dancers in the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. Many of the legal files reflect licenses to use the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago's choreography, music and dances in the film.

Business and financial is the largest sub-series in the collection. The majority of files include payroll for the cast and crew, an extensive invoice history that includes releases, contracts and annotated bills and a variety of accounting reports including posting reports, closing reports and cost reports. The payroll services company called Cast and Crew Payroll, Inc. for the film was audited by the Directors Guild of America's Producer Pension and Health Plans branch in 2004.

The scripts sub-series include interviews between writer Barbara Turner and the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago dancers. Production and post-production includes production files that document the start of filming from camera tests to day 1-33 of shooting and production. Also, a variety of foley cue sheets for sound editing are found in oversized

boxes. In the awards, events and festivals sub-series information on the San Francisco International Film Festival's Lifetime Achievement in Directing Award for Altman in 2003 is included.

Photographs consist of contact sheets, cast photos, headshots and continuity shots in the photograph sub-series. The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago's official photographer, Herbert Migdoll, photographed the dance sequences while the production photographer, Matt Dinerstein, photographed the rest of the filming and production.

The Dr. T and the Women series (37 linear feet, 2 oversized boxes) is comprised of material from the 2000 film directed and co-produced by Robert Altman. The screenplay was written by Anne Rapp. The film's actors include Richard Gere, Laura Dern, Farrah Fawcett, Kate Hudson, Helen Hunt, Shelley Long, Tara Reid and Liv Tyler.

The legal sub-series contain numerous agreements including those for the cast, Robert Altman, Anne Rapp and the producers. It also contains various certificates, release forms and a chain of title. The business and financial sub-series includes purchase orders, cost reports, payroll and insurance information. Also included are 14 versions of the budget as well as budget comparisons to other films. The scripts sub-series contain 10 versions of the script including a treatment and a shooting script.

Production and post-production is a sub-series consisting of casting material which includes notes, resumes and a cast breakdown. This sub-series is also comprised of time reports, shooting schedules and material relating to the title and end credits. The music and scores sub-series contain numerous documents regarding Lyle Lovett, who served as the music producer for the film. This sub-series also includes material regarding the soundtrack cover art and potential music collaborators.

The publicity and distribution sub-series largely consist of press clippings from both the U.S. and abroad. There are also materials regarding interview requests, press visits to the set and film screenings. The Venice Film Festival is a largest part of the awards, events and festivals sub-series with material that includes travel, itineraries and contacts. The Photographs sub-series contain slides, negatives and photographs of wardrobe, location and various cast members.

The Gosford Park series (26 linear feet, 4 oversized boxes) consists of material from the 2001 film directed and co-produced by Robert Altman, written by Julian Fellowes and distributed by USA Films. The film's actors include Eileen Atkins, Bob Balaban, Stephen Fry, Helen Mirren, Jeremy Northam, Clive Owen, Ryan Phillipe, Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas, among numerous others.

The legal sub-series contain various agreements including that of Robert Altman, Julian Fellowes and the other co-producers. Business and financial is a sub-series which includes payroll, potential financiers, insurance information and budget revisions ranging in date from June, 2000-March, 2001. The series includes 16 versions of the script including the shooting script and master script. Three of these scripts were written with Gosford Park's original name, Back of the Tapestry. This sub-series also includes a publication of the shooting script by Newmarket Press under their Shooting Script Series.

Production and post-production is a large sub-series which includes documents regarding story research, casting, costume ideas and film credits. There are also various location brochures, a lined script and an entire box of blueprints which unfold to approximately 32 x 42 inches each. The publicity and distribution sub-series contain a large number of press clippings as well as material concerning screenings, distribution schedules and film premieres. Articles and reviews consist of both newspaper and magazine reviews.

The awards, events and festival sub-series consist of material covering the various awards for which the film was nominated such as the American Film Institute Awards and the Golden Globes. The material for the Academy Awards includes programs and a large number of press clippings. This sub-series also contains material from various film festivals such as the Berlin International Film Festival and the Sundance Film Festival. Mark Tillie was the photographer for Gosford Park and the photographs sub-series

includes stills, costume tests, panoramic location photographs and contact sheets which are divided by the "upstairs" scenes and the "downstairs" scenes.

The A Prairie Home Companion series (16 linear feet, 2 oversized boxes) is comprised of material from the 2006 film directed by Robert Altman and written by Garrison Keillor. The film's actors include Woody Harrelson, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, Lindsay Lohan, Virginia Madsen, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolph, Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin.

The legal sub-series contain various agreements as well as permits and release forms. Business and financial is a sub-series which includes numerous versions of the budget, purchase orders and office logs. The series includes 27 versions of the script including a treatment and several rough drafts.

Production and post-production is a sub-series which contains documents regarding location, casting and production reports. There are also one-sheets, scene cards and information regarding film and sound editing. The music and scores sub-series include sheet music and song lists.

The publicity and distribution sub-series contain a large number of press clippings as well as material regarding film premieres, interview schedules and posters. The awards, events and festivals sub-series contain material from film festivals as well as miscellaneous events. The photographs sub-series includes a large number of contact sheets and stills as well as a cast photograph which has been autographed by Robert Altman.

The Resurrection Blues series (1 linear foot) consists of material from the Arthur Miller play directed by Robert Altman at The Old Vic Theater in London, which ran from February 14, 2006 – April 15, 2006. The cast included Jane Adams, George Antoni, Megan Arellanes, Peter Brooke, Neve Campbell, James Fox, Sara Mennell, Matthew Modine and Maximilian Schell.

Business and financial is a small sub-series comprised of petty cash receipts. There are three copies of the script in the series, all dated January 6, 2005. The production and post-production sub-series includes material about The Old Vic Theater, casting documents and a rehearsal schedule. Publicity and distribution contains magazine and newspaper clippings and programs. The photographs sub-series consist of photographs taken on the set during rehearsals.

The Tanner on Tanner series (6 linear feet) consists of materials from the 2004 television series directed and co-produced by Robert Altman and written by Garry Trudeau. The actors include Cynthia Nixon, Michael Murphy, Pamela Reed, Ilana Levine, and Matt Malloy.

The legal subseries consist of actor agreements, and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists agreements with many of the politicians who make cameo appearances in the series. Several production notebooks are included in the production and post-production subseries, including Director's Assistant Lowell Dubrinsky's notebook. These notebooks include nearly all aspects of the production of the show. This subseries also includes research materials gathered for the production, portions of which were filmed at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Advertising one-sheets autographed by Altman are included in the publicity and distribution material, in addition to press clippings used as publicity for the television show. New York City location photographs taken by location supervisor Nils Widboom are included in the photographs sub-series. Several "continuity" Polaroid pictures are also included in this series.

The Trixie series (15.5 linear feet and one oversized box) consists of materials from the 2000 film written by Alan Rudolph and John Binder. The film was directed by Alan Rudolph and produced by Robert Altman and James McLindon. The film's actors include Emily Watson, Nick Nolte, Dermot Mulroney, Brittany Murphy, Nathan Lane and Lesley Ann Warren. The movie was filmed in Vancouver, Canada.

The legal sub-series contains numerous agreements including those for the actors, crew, musicians and distributors. The legal files contain several drafts of agreements between Trixie Limited Partnership and Pandora Investment, S.A.R.L., the international distributors of the film. The files reflect a dispute between the production company and Pandora on issues of financing, publicity and production decisions.

Robert Altman directed Dr. T and the Women at the same time that Trixie was being produced and both production companies corresponded regularly in regard to production issues. The Dr. T. and the Women production helped Trixie production on matters such as providing legal templates and booking flights and hotels for cast and crew members. Trixie not only used Dr. T and the Women's legal templates, but legal templates from Rudolph's previous film Afterglow. As a result, some documents are from Dr. T and the Women and Afterglow's production offices.

The majority of the business and financial sub-series contains a variety of budget reports. The production and post-production sub-series has location scouting photos and brochures from different states in the United States.

In the photograph sub-series, the majority of photographs, not including location photos, were taken by stills photographer Joyce Rudolph, Alan Rudolph's wife. The photographs sub-series also contains numerous slides of the cast and crew.
