FIXING ROB THE NINTENDO ROBOT AND NINTENDO DECKS BY SANFORD

20061

NINTENDO ROB THE ROBOT REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS AND NES 72 PIN REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS WITH PICTURES

THESE ARE A FEW OF THE 20 I HAVE PURCHASED THAT DID NOT FUNCTION 100 PERCENT. I HAD TRIED TO REPAIR SOME A FEW MONTHS AGO, SO I MESSED UP THE GEARS, BUT OUT OF 20, I WAS ABLE TO GET 15 UP TO 100 PERCENT WITH JUST A DROP OF GLUE. YES IT IS THAT SIMPLE AND I HAVE TO THANK A YOUNG MAN WHO POSTED IT TO GOOGLE. WITH HIS INFO I WAS ABLE TO DO THE LEFT/RIGHT ALSO.

BASIC ROB, NO HANDS/CLAWS

2

REMOVE 4 CORNER SCREWS AND BATTERY

3

TO FIX LEFT /RIGHT REMOVE 3 SCREWS FROM TOP OF WHITE COVER

STAND HIM ON HIS HEAD

4

5

WITH MOTOR REMOVED

6

THIS IS THE PART THAT SLIPS

7

THIS IS EXACTLY WHERE THE GLUE NEEDS TO GO IF YOU CAN USE A KNIFE BLADE TO SEPARATE THE SILVER METAL PART FROM THE WHITE PLASTIC GEAR. THE GLUE SHOULD GO BETWEEN THE 2, JUST A DROP. LET DRY, NOT LETTING GLUE GET ON ANYTHING ELSE.

THESE ARE THE PIECES

WITH COVER BACK ON, MAKE SURE WIRES ARE TUCKED OUT OF THE WAY.

THIS IS THE EASY PART TO FIX NEXT WE GO TO THE TOP THAT CONTROLS 8

LEFT/RIGHT AND OPEN/CLOSE

WITH ROB ON HIS HEAD, REMOVE THE 6 SCREWS CAREFULLY LIFT TOP HALF CAREFULLY AND TAKE NOTE OF THE ARRANGEMENT

TAKE NOTE OF WHERE GEARS ARE, THEY WILL BE FALLING OUT AS YOU DEAL WITH THEM

9

I HAVE TAPED UP THE HANDS, YOU CAN TAKE THEM ALL THE WAY OUT, BUT THEY ARE NOT EASY TO REPLACE. I ALSO TAPED TOP HALF UP OUT OF MY WAY

10

THIS IS THE GEAR THE ONE IN FRONT. YOU MUST REMOVE IT COMPLETELY TO GET TO THE PART YOU NEED TO CEMENT THE RIGHT SIDE IS FOR UP/DOWN

11

EXACTLY THE SAME AS BOTTOM WE ARE WORKING ON THE SIDE THAT HAS THE DRIVE GEAR THAT TOUCHES SHAFT FOR LIFTING TO THE LEFT OF OUTSIDE METAL ONE.

THATS WERE WE GLUE, OR YOU MAY TRY EPOXY AGAIN SEPARATING JUST A BIT WILL HELP GLUE FLOW BETWEEN PIECES. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE ENTIRE SHAFT

12

13

LAST THING MAKE SURE THIS PEG IS SEATED ALL THE WAY DOWN IN THE SLOT OR TOP WILL NOT GO DOWN AND IT WILL BEND. NOW LOWER TOP PART BACK DOWN TRYING TO KEEP ARMS IN THE OPEN POSITION, IT IS NOT EASY. AFTER REASSEMBLING ROB, YOU SHOULD BE READY TO TEST. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE GYROMITE GAME IN THE NES DECK

14

IN ORDER TO TEST LEFT. RIGHT, UP AND DOWN AS WELL AS OPEN/ CLOSE WHEN ROB IS ON HIT, START AND GO TO TEST. IT WILL PROMPT YOU TO LEFT, RIGHT, UP DOWN, OPEN/CLOSE.

15

I CAN NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU DO TO YOUR ROB FROM THIS ATTEMPT. I HAVE ONLY TRIED TO HELP YOU MY BELIEF IS THAT IF IT DOES NOT WORK, I CAN NOT HARM IT BY TRYING TO REPAIR IT, IF I FAIL, I HAVE LEARNED SOMETHING THAT WILL HELP ME NEXT TIME. RICHARD L. SANFORD NOW YOU WANT TO REPLACE THE PIN CONNECTER IN YOUR OLD NINTENDO DECK. IT IS A PIECE OF CAKE. FIRST BUY THE CONNECTER

16

REMOVE ALL 6 SCREWS FROM CORNERS

REMOVE ALUMINUM COVER

17

REMOVE ALL 10 SCREWS AROUND METAL COVER,

18

YOU NOW SEE ELEVATOR WITH 6 SCREWS REMOVE FRONT 2 AND VERY BACK 2 NOW REMOVE 2 LEFT IN, NOTICE THEY ARE A BIT LONGER THAN ALL OTHERS. TILL NOW ALL INSIDE AND OUTSIDE SCREWS ARE SAME BUT THESE 2 ARE SPECIAL AND MUST GO BACK IN THE SAME HOLES THEY CAME OUT OF

.

19

20

NOW YOU ARE READY TO REMOVE OLD PINS JUST LIFT BOARD AND PUSH BACK ON THEM

21

YOU ARE NOW READY TO PUT NEW ONES ON THE SAME BOARD, BUT LOOK AT THE CONTACTS. IT THEY ARE GREEN FROM BLOWING ON GAME S OR THEY LOOK TOTALLY MESSED UP, YOU MAY NOT WANT TO FINISH. IF YOU TRIED THE DECK BEFORE YOU STARTED AND DID NOT GET ANY PICTURE, PINS MAY NOT BE YOUR ONLY PROBLEM.

22

LINE UP HOLES ON BOTH SIDES 23

NOW REPLACE ALUMINUM COVER AND PUT THE TWO LONGEST SCREWS IN THE 2 HOLE THEY CAME OUT OF NOW PUT 4 CORNER SCREWS IN. NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE THE ELEVATOR BACK IN PLACE. IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT I RETEST AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS. MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN EVERY GAME BEFORE INSERTING. INSTRUCTIONS ON PINS SAY TRY A FEW DIFFERENT GAMES IN NEW PINS. IF IT ALL WORKS,YOU CAN NOW FINISH REPLACING THE REMAINING SCREWS, IF NOT KEEP THE PINS AND DECK TOP AND SO ON FOR PARTS, UNLESS YOU KNOW AN ELECTRICIAN. I HOPE THIS HAS HELPED, I HAVE REBUILT OVER 50 USING THIS METHOD. THERE IS ONE OTHER BIT OF INFO I WILL GIVE YOU AS LONG AS YOU KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE PINS THEY MAY NOT NEED TOTAL REPLACEMENT. YOU CAN REBIULD THEM 8 OUT OF 10 TIMES IF THE PINS LOOK CLEAN AND THE CONTACTS LOOK CLEAN, YOU CAN REFURBISH THE SPRING TENSION ON EACH OF 32 TOP PINS WITH A RAZOR SHARP KNIFE, SLIGHTLY LIFT THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE TOP ROW OF PINS, JUST A PINCH. IF YOU DO IT TOO MUCH, THE GAMES WILL GO IN AND OUT REAL TIGHT, AND IT MAY BE THE DECK WILL WORK WHEN YOU PUT THE GAME IN BEFORE YOU PUSH ELEVATOR DOWN I HAVE DONE THIS FOR 10 YEARS, BEFORE ANYONE WAS SELLING REPLACEMENT PINS. I HAVE BEEN REPAIRING AND SELLING VIDEO GAME SYSTEMS FOR OVER 18 YEARS.
