Executive Agent of the Month

Rob Norquist

For over two decades, real estate professional Rob Norquist has dedicated himself to excellence in business and client care. With a steadfast and dil-

igent approach he has established himself not only as a

top producer, but also as a well-regarded broker/owner whose firm, HÔM Sotheby’s International Realty, has emerged as a leader in the high end and luxury markets throughout Southern California.

Rob launched his career after earning a degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine. His grandparents were successful investors, and he gained invaluable hands-on experience assisting them in the process of rehabilitating homes for resale. Recognizing the opportunities in real estate, he tailored a plan that would allow him to build a thorough understanding of the elements involved in developing a successful business. “I started out as an assistant,” Rob explains. “This enabled me to create a great foundation based on the best practices of established and successful agents.” It was a strategic move that reflected Rob’s client-centric focus: through mentoring and modeling, he assembled a solid repertoire of skills and industry knowledge.

He cultivated a thriving business, working with nationally-branded franchise offices and earning a position as one of the region’s consistent top producers. But Rob wasn’t focused solely on production volume. The Southern California native discerned that there was a need for a different kind of real estate brokerage, one that would provide consumers with the appeal of a local company and the professionalism of a major brand. He co-founded HÔM Real Estate Group, which differentiated itself immediately through exquisite high-end marketing and advertising and a responsive approach to business. “We have been extremely nimble, which has allowed us to navigate even the most challenging market conditions,” Rob remarks. “HÔM has also focused on what works. We aren’t doing things because they’re being done. We consistently seek quantitative results that support our actions. When something isn’t working, we adapt our approach in order to maximize results.”

Since its inception, the boutique firm has, like Rob, offered clients a personalized and collaborative approach to business. That philosophy, embraced by the brokerage’s agents and personnel, helped propel HÔM to become the fastest growing luxury market brand in the western United States. People took notice, as did the industry. In 2011 HÔM Real Estate Group forged a unique affiliate partner-ship with Sotheby’s International Realty, which allowed the company to maintain its autonomy while capitalizing

on the opportunity to expand its market share to coastal regions spanning from Manhattan Beach to Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar. The move was an exciting one for Rob, who has been an integral component of HÔM’s remarkable success. Despite the buzz, he has remained focused on the ongoing needs of his agents and clientele. “There has been no instant formula for us,” he explains. “Each year we have continued to build business through hard work and dedication.”

Mark Taylor, Matt Taylor, Aimee Nourse and Rob Norquist

Rob has assumed a leadership role in his brokerage and within his professional community while con-tinuing to maintain his own thriving clientele. He has taken a unique approach to his business, establishing collegial partnerships in order to provide an enhanced level of attentive and knowledgeable representation for buyers and sellers.

In the beach markets of Newport Peninsula and Peninsula Point, Rob works closely with Aimee Nourse, an accomplished residential specialist whose approach to business mirrors his own. “Aimee is very thoughtful in her actions, and provides a client-centric experi-ence for her buyers and sellers,” he observes. “She’s not only well-versed in the regional marketplace, but she has also established a solid professional network throughout the area. We complement each other and,

together, offer clients an enhanced level of representa-tion.”

Huntington Beach native Matt Taylor brings a unique skill set to the team with experience in both real estate and lending. “Matt is a former collegiate and pro beach volleyball player and approaches his business with a like-minded focus and enthusiasm,” says Rob. Together Rob and Matt bring a deep understanding of the coastal markets and metrics to their buyers and sellers.

Mark Taylor is another colleague with whom Rob col-laborates regularly. The ambitious agent is, notes Rob, “Enthusiastic and dedicated to building business by con-sistently meeting his clients’ needs.” The duo represents their own clientele, teaming up when appropriate to increase the efficacy of their transactions.

Rob’s work with clients is reflective of his methodical approach to business. He delves into every transaction by instituting clear and concise communication, establishing expectations, and providing a detailed map of the elements involved in achieving his client’s goals. Home sellers benefit from individualized, high-profile marketing plans that showcase the unique appeal of every property. HÔM Sotheby’s International Realty offers a far-reaching brand that appeals to prospective buyers across the nation and around the world. And Rob’s own professional network adds significant value to the process; he is well-connected to the marketplace and has an insider’s knowledge of trends and changes as well as exclusive inventory.

In addition to managing a thriving business and bro-kerage, Rob has also dedicated time and energy to his industry through active membership and leadership roles. “It’s important to be involved in professional organiza-tions such as Boards of Realtors®,” he explains, “because so much is being accomplished through these channels. Our industry is truly shaped by the advocacy that occurs within groups such as the California Association of

Realtors®.” Rob served as the president of the Newport Beach Association of Realtors® in 2009 and has since remained an active board member. He was also a director with the California Association of REALTORS® and the Southern California Multiple Listing Service. His par-ticipation offers Rob a unique perspective on upcoming changes that will impact the industry and opportunities for consumers.

In addition to his professional commitments, Rob also dedicates time to his family. He enjoys the opportunity to be with his wife Lisa and daughters Emily and Ava.

Rob is grateful for the early mentors who helped shape his accomplished career, and is doing his part to ensure that up-and-coming agents are granted the benefit of experience and wisdom. He enjoys acting as a resource and guide to individuals who seek to build their skills and knowledge, and is generous in providing his colleagues with the insights that he has gained throughout the course of his professional journey.
