ROALD DAHL AND HIS FAMILY

Roald Dahl was born on September 13, 1916 in Llandaff-United Kingdom.

When he was three years old his seven year old sister (Astri) died of appendicitis, weeks later his father also died of pneumonia, at the age of 57.

HIS FAMILYRoald Dahl married an American actress called Patricia Neal on July 2nd, 1953 at Trinity Church in New York. Their marriage lasted for 30 years, they had 5 children: Olivia, Tessa, Theo, Ophelia, and Lucy. Olivia died when she was 7 years old because of measles encephalitis, because of it R.Dahl dedicated “The BFG” to her.

HIS CAREERIn July 1934 Roald Dahl joined the Shell Petroleum company. After 2 years of training in the UK he was transferred to Dar-es-Salaam Tanganyika with two other employees.

WORLD WAR IIIn the world war II he joined the royal air force but when he was landing, he crashed, smashed his nose, fractured his skull, and temporarily blinded himself.

Later he wrote about his crash for his 1st published work.

BOOKS HE WROTERoald Dahl wrote many books I’m going to mention some of them:

1. Children's books:

a) Charlie and the chocolate factory.

b) James and the giant peach.

2. Novels:

a) My Uncle Oswald.

3. Poetry:

a) Dirty Beasts.

b) Revolting Rhymes.

HIS DEATHRoald Dahl died in November, 1990 at the age of 74 in Oxford, of a rare blood disease called: myelodysplastic anaemia. (sometimes called pre-leukemia)
