Birth of a Famous Author

Our famous author Mr.Roald Dahl was born in Llandaff Wales, September 13, 1916.

His mom and dad’s names were Harald Dahl and Sofie Magedalene.

Family

His father Harald Dahl was an owner of a ship broking business.

His family was a Norwegian family.

His father married a young French girl.

Family cont. • When Roald Dahl was

only three years old his seven year old sister died of sickness.

• About a month later his father died at the age of 57.

• The family had to sell their jewelry to keep Roald Dahl in school.

How did he become an author?

After he served a term in the air force he returned home.

He was sent to Washington D.C to get an interview.

He had to send notes to an interviewer, which ended up becoming a story. He called it “A Piece of Cake.”

His very first book was Shot Down Over Libya.
