Road to Somewhere A One-Point Perspective Drawing To create a “Road to Somewhere” you will first draw a horizon line, this is the line that separates the land from the sky) across your paper. Depending on the Landscape you want to create, you may not want this line straight? Maybe a wavy line or a line with a slight curve might be what you draw. Next, you will need to draw a Vanishing Point. This is the point on the horizon line where objects appear to “vanish”. Then you will begin to sketch your landscape in pencil. You can choose a mountainous landscape, flat desert, neighborhood or a scene from a city street. Remember, the objects that are nearest to you or that are in the foreground will appear larger. As you draw them to the Vanishing Point or in the background, they will become smaller.

Road to SomewhereA One-Point Perspective Drawing

To create a “Road to Somewhere” you

will first draw a horizon line, this is the line that separates the land from the sky)

across your paper.

When you have finished sketching, begin coloring your landscape with colored pencils and don’t forget to add details to your drawing. Buildings, trees, mountains, people, surfboards, old fences, rocks, creeks, grasses, streetlights etc. will help give the viewer more information to your landscape.
