In India alone, the death toll rose to 14 per hour in 2009 as against 13 in persons in 2008. The total number of deaths every year due to road accidents has now passed the 135,000 mark. Trucks and two-wheelers were responsible for over 40 per cent of deaths.

Among the districts, Kamrup (Metro) recorded the highest number of accidents (626) and deaths (207).

the highest number of highway deaths (180) occurred in Nagaon, followed by Sonitpur (102).

In spite of all precautionary measures road accident will continue to occur. It can’t be stop it. However, appropriate steps can help to curve the quantity as well as the fatalness of such unwanted occurrences.
