Spending on infrastructure in Qatar is expected to reach $150bn in the next ten years
This was revealed at the fourth staging of the international Future Concrete Conference, organised by the
Advanced Construction and Technology Services (ACTS) at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Doha Qatar. In its latest
report, Business Monitor International predicted that 2013-2022 average real GDP growth for Qatar is at eight
per cent a year. The report added that the countrys huge infrastructure spend is owing to the massive
preparations for hosting the 2022 World Cup and in line with Qatar Vision 2030. Projects in the pipeline include a
$40bn plan for railways; a $20bn investment in roads; $15.5bn new airport project; $8bn to be spent on a deep-
water seaport; $4bn for stadiums; $1bn transport corridor project in Doha; and, tens of thousands of hotel
rooms to be built.
This brochure contains details of a selection of the Construction Industry Professionals with
specific experience in the design and build of roads, highways and expressway infrastructure
currently being represented by MCR Global Resourcing.
If you have a specific requirement and dont see the individual or experience match from the
candidates listed here please contact us with the specifics of your vacancy and we will source
candidates matching your specification.
Saudi Arabia's ministry of transport set to spend over $2.9bn (SR11bn) on road projects
According to the state-run Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom is undertaking 223 new road building projects covering 3,708km during 2013. These projects encompass expressways, dual carriageways and single track roads. Feasibility projects for a further 1,523km are also underway, it added. Currently, the Kingdom has around 62,000km of roads - discounting around 145,000km of agricultural routes. The agency quoted a ministry source stating that more than 24,000km of roads considered to be of 'strategic importance' are also underway.
MARKET DEMAND
Over recent months MCR Global Resourcing has seen a considerable increase in the demand for a
broad range of construction personnel for both, contract / project work and full-time permanent
positions in the roads / highways / expressway infrastructure market. While this is a welcome and
positive sign there is now a surge to find the right person and competition is heating up to attract
and retain specialists in this area as shortages in the sector are beginning to be highlighted.
