Introduction• Hello new or current students, today you are going to be

introduced to a TSTC home page tutorial. As a new student coming to college/university may be hard for some of you. Some students may not get the right tools to start off college either because they didn’t go to orientation or their first generation. Every student should know their college website because it is a useful tool. Today I will be showing you a step by step process of the TSTC home page. This page has access to every day needs and may be the right tool for your college years. I created this tutorial for students like you that need that extra push or tool. This is an easy tutorial that goes step by step and I will not be confusing. You will learn what the home page offers and the quick links. Now, let’s start.

Getting started • First on the address put in the URL for the home

page – https://www.harlingen.tstc.edu – It should look like this

Lets start from the top

• These links are helpful for new students and current students.• The welcome link is basic information about the college and what you need from

admissions. • Programs is just all the programs that are offered at TSTC .• Academics is degree plans and classes that you need for certain program and for

admissions it’s a list of requirements. • Financial aid just by reading it, it says it all. • MyTSTC is current news of what's going on, on campus. • Apply online is a quick link for doing registration online. • Jobs is just a listing of the jobs around campus and calendar is just basic info of

events that will be held.

• As you can see on the left side scrolling down there are other links. • From top left to bottom you can find useful information. Starting from the top

you can find information if you’re new student, current student, information for parents, the distance learning meaning online classes, etc

• Useful information for new students, currents students, as well as parents and staff.

• If your decide to take online classes you can simply click on Distance Learning. Find all the classes that will be available that semester and what classes are going to be taught.

• Dual enrollment classes for high school students that are available at TSTC.

• On the sides you can go to links that are useful in your daily basis and college career. Instead of typing in you mymail you can just click on the left side and it will atomically take you there. It also has other basic websites that may be familiar to you and that are useful

• If you look on the right side for Quick Links these are a good tool , that I use once a week at least.

• Some of the links are repeated from the top links from the beginning. • Course schedules is very useful each semester, this is where you can find

what classes will be available each semester. • Eportfolio is a link, if you are taking human relations you will be using this

for class. • Mycourses if you are taking online this will be the home page for online

classes. • Scholarships that are available thru TSTC, Policies and procedures for

TSTC campus, and library says it all. • Webadvisor is an important tool, if you are an employee you put it in your

hours here, for students you have you academic profile and you can register thru here, instead of going to an advisor.

• These side links that you can just click and it will take you to that website.• You can find Mymail on the left side , if you feel lazy and don’t want to

type in the URL. Just simply click on it and it will take you there. • The emergency notification is for hurricane or weather disasters, it alerts

you through your phone, all you have to do is register. • It has information on the University Center building that is going to bring

in colleges around Texas and out-of-state. • Has the course schedule also, just a click away. • The Mustang E-Blast that has monthly information about the campus and

events. • How to Become a Student is the same as the Welcome link.

Closing

• Now that you know your way around your college home website, you won’t be lost anymore. If you ever need help trying to find something around your campus or maybe something you may just want to check out.
