Romeo and Juliet Paragraph
Romeo and Juliet's love relationship is based on lust, because as
teenagers, their love is based on looks. Their love story begins
where they meet each other at the ball. When they see each other,
both of them fall in love at first sight. Obviously they don’t know
each other, so their passion is based on looks. Juliet is only
thirteen, but she thinks that Romeo is the man of her dreams. After
the ball, Romeo sneaks into Juliet’s courtyard admiring her
physical characteristics. When looking up at her he says, about the
moon, ‘‘Her vestal livery is but sick and green, And none but fools
do wear it. Cast it off’’ (II. ii. 8-9). In this line Romeo compares the
moon and Juliet to virgins. Referring to the quote, Romeo wants
Juliet to get rid of her virginity, which certainly implies him lusting
after her. Then Romeo decides to stay even longer and
compliment her face, eyes, etc. Now Juliet is so in love with
Romeo’s appearance, that she is willing to marry him the next day.
These young people haven’t known each other for long enough to
have fallen in true love. All in all, their relationship seems to be
based on lust rather than love.
