One down two to go. Now that June is behind us, it is time to focus on July and August. After last year we all know
how weather can play such a key role in our outcomes. Thankfully the work we did last year along with the programs
in place this year have us in a much better spot heading into the toughest months. I know the last thing anyone wants
to see once the greens are rolling nice is more holes. Please understand that we are only one year into a multiyear
process. Even though things are looking better on the surface, work still needs to take place in the soil to assure we
will be able to maintain the desired conditions when weather isn’t favorable.
On Sunday, June 2nd, we had our annual visit form our consultant Richard Bator. He was very pleased in the progress
being made and is hopeful that we can return to “normal” cultural programs in two more years. According to his
measurements, we took the 1 ¼” organic layer and reduced it by ½” in one year. This is a very good accomplishment
and a testament to Sacred Heart’s commitment to producing a product to be proud of. It was another fantastic visit
from Richard who took the time to answer questions from our Greens Committee members present during the tour
and share his insights from a career that spans five decades. He also offered some recommendations on future
purchases that will better help our cultural programs and made some slight modifications to a few of the programs as
well.

Greens & GroundsIt is hard to believe that we are 1/3 through our Summer struggle (June, July, and August) and things are doing well.
The entire G&G team has settled into the routines that make things run as we would like and assure that all tasks get
complete each week. With such a short season, there really isn’t any room for “we can do it tomorrow”. The tasks
planned for a day need to be accomplished that day for us to be successful. I would like to take a few minutes and
talk about some of the people that go under the radar and help us get these tasks accomplished. First is our horti-
culturalist, Irene Loboncz. Irene is responsible for all the flower beds located throughout the property. This includes
around the clubhouse and on the course. It is a huge job that takes an incredible amount of know how and orga-
nization to complete. The second person I would like to mention is Steve Jones Sr. Steve spends most of his time
around the clubhouse working on details and lawns. On top of the outside work Steve does, he also helps inside
when needed doing small projects and making minor repairs. The last person I would like to say a few words about
is Allen DeVellis. Allen is new to the team this year and has been an incredible pickup. He has a wonderful attitude
and is always asking “what’s next”. Allen is an operator/laborer and the cousin of Francesco and Erica. If you happen
to see any of them on the course, please take a minute to say “Thanks” for the hard work and long hours they put in.

Dear Members,
We certainly hope you’re enjoying the beautiful weather these past 6 weeks and taking advantage of the outstanding playing conditions on our Golf Course.
We are extremely excited to have our new Executive Chef Matthew Adkins join our F&B Team and Great River Family. He’s been very busy in our kitchen working and mentoring our Culinary Team to get through an extremely busy month, with 7 weddings, multiple golf outings and other social events. He’s made subtle changes to our lunch, dinner and brunch menus, along with adding creative daily specials. Please look for more changes once he settles in and gets more familiar with his Team, our operation and our processes.
We will be featuring two Member’s exclusive events in the month of July. On Wednesday, July 10th, our Executive Chef Matthew Adkins will present his creative menu along with Italian inspired wines (menu attached). On Friday, July 26th, beginning at 6pm, we will present our first “Island Night”, with a live steel band, and Chef’s favorites from the Caribbean.
We look forward to serving you, your family and friends!
Thank you,

Greetings!
June, which is still considered by many to be a traditional wedding month, welcomed 7 couples who tied the knot and
believe it or not, almost 1,000 people came through our doors, many for the first time. Congratulations to Bianca & Tim,
Brittany & Andrew, Gilytza & Justin, Kim & Kevin, Jaclyn & James Michelle & Matthew and Lisa & Nick!
Brides and babies-to-be were also welcomed with elegant Sunday brunches. In addition, we hosted a high school
sports banquet, a SHU Leadership dinner, and a very special milestone birthday celebration!!
As we look ahead to the Summer months, we are excited to host more weddings, meetings and special celebrations.
Please keep in mind, it’s not too early to book your company’s holiday party.
If you know of anyone looking for the perfect venue for their special event, please have them give me a call at 203-

Pro Shop CornerDear Members,
The golf season is in full swing, which I hope means you are coming out to play, hitting the range, or working on your short game. If you are making it to the club on a regular basis, make sure you have at least a couple pair of golf shoes in your rotation.
Even if you have 5 pair of shoes in your locker (or at home or in the turnk of your car) you can never have too many pairs of shoes, right? You may have shoes for tournaments or weekend events and other pairs for more casual rounds or when you are working on your game. Rotating multiple pairs actually proglongs the life of your shoes.
There are a lot of great golf shoes on the market. However, FJ is the #1 Shoe in Golf and the #1 Shoe on Tour for a reason - well, many reasons actually. But one reason inparticular is that they offer more styles, more sizes and more widths than any other brand. They have a shoe for every golfer.
Whether you are looking for a performance shoe with athletic styling (FJ Fury), the hottest shoe on Tour (Pro/SL), a great-looking traditional saddle (DryJoys Tour), or a performance spikeless shoe that works as well off the course as it does on the course (FJ Flex) - FootJoy has you covered.
The bottom line is that they are all incredibly comfortable and perform on the course. It's well worth a few minutes of your time to visit the Pro Shop and try on a pair. If we don't have exactly what you want - we can order it for you and have it in a few days. We look forward to see you soon.
Sincerely,
The Pro Shop Staff
